Smile Veggies on Induction

Okay, I'm back from Aruba (what a great trip) and ready to recommit. I have 40 pounds to lose and started induction yesterday. Here's yesterday's menu:

Breakfast:

Decaf sweetened with DaVinci Vanilla & 1 TBS half/half
Two chopped hard boiled eggs mixed with real mayo & 1 TBS Chipotle Mayo

Lunch:

Grilled Turkey Burger with 1 slice American Cheese; steamed brocolli with butter

Snack:

1 mozzerella string cheese

Dinner:

Two grilled turkey burgers with dijon mustard; steamed brocolli; and a large tossed salad with cukes, celery, two plum tomato slices, olive oil, vinegar (balsamic--very little)and parmesean.

I thought this was a good first day, but someone at my office said I'm way overdoing my veggies. What do you guys think? I'm really determined this time. With your help, I know I can do it.

I'm also taking: One a Day Weight Smart; B-Complex Compound; Essential Oils. Anything I should add?

You didn't have 40 lbs to lose from eating veggies and you won't hurt yourself eating them during induction or after. . .I allowed myself as many green leafies as I could eat during induction and didn't count them against my totals and lost almost 20 lbs during induction--SOOOOO--eat your veggies. . .go for 5 servings a day! I try to get half my carbs form veggies and fruits--on induction of course the fruits are out so you are shooting for about 10gs of carbs from veggies. . .when in doubt. . .don't hesitate to ask, but plan on veggies!

I agree, the bulk of what you are eating should come from veggies, they fill and hydrate you so eat up and enjoy. And drink, drink, drink your water. Good luck to you it sounds like you are off to a great start.

Are you keeping track on fitday??
Your menu sounds great, my only concern would be the tomatoes. A few are fine, but they can really add up the carbs, so watch how many your having.

Outside of that?? EXACTLY what Huskersfan said!!!

Your menu looks pretty good to me. IMO, you can eat all the steamed broccoli and lettuce greens you want - the more the better.

As April said, use tomatoes in moderation - they run about 3 g. net carbs per 1/2 cup. But, you only had two slices of tomato, so that's not much. Also, American cheese (processed cheese) is not as low carb as regular cheeses - it runs about 2 g. carb per oz.

You also note that you used just a little basalmic vinegar, which is probably okay. It sounds like you already know that basalmic vinegars are fairly high carb. I know one brand, Olivier, that is almost as sweet as grape juice, LOL!

I have to agree with everyone else - You can't have too much broccoli and other high fiber veggies. Your menu looks very good to me too.
