Wink Ketosis Where Are You?

Okay, Induction is over and so is Ketosis. I do not know where I went wrong. As of Friday, my stix were pale pink. As of this morning--nothing!

On Saturday, I went a little crazy with veggies. Attended a surprise party and did great protein wise: Grilled Chicken Breast, Grilled Shrimp, and some London Broil. They also had the most fabulous raw veggie salad (brocolli, cauliflower, zucchini, asparagus, grape tomatoes (only ate 3), and I ate probably 3 cups of it. It had some balsamic vinegarette on it, but according to the caterer, no added sugar. I also went to a movie Saturday night and had 3 - 4 healthy handfuls of popcorn and 2.2 oz of pork rinds (plain). My water was about 90 oz on Saturday.

On Sunday, my stomach was not happy. I ate scrambled eggs with cheese and two slices of taylor ham for breakfast and nothing else for the entire day. The eggs hit me the wrong way and extreme nausea lasted all day long. I didn't have more than about 8 oz of water because that complicated the nausea.

Yesterday, I jumped back on track:

Breakfast: Atkins Morning Start Bar (didn't get to grocery store due to stomach problem day before--this is a rare emergency-only breakfast) and 1.5 Cups of Decaf with half/half and DaVinci Vanilla

Lunch: 1 grilled boneless pork chop with 2 TBS Carb Smart BBQ Sauce (delish!); steamed brocolli with butter and parmesean

Snack: 1 String Cheese

Dinner: Grilled London Broil, large mixed salad (lettuce, cukes, celery) oil and vinegar; steamed brocolli with butter and parmesean

Snack: Handful of almonds and brazil nuts mixed; cup of tangerine zinger tea with splenda

Water: 90 Oz

Do you think I'll be back in the "pink" soon. As of this morning--negative. My normal weigh-in is on Wednesday (I like to stick to once per week), so I'll see if I'm still in weight loss mode tomorrow.

Sorry this is so long, but I need some expert opinions here. What should I do to get "back in the pink". Thanks to everyone!

It might just be that you had enough popcorn to kick you out of ketosis. In that case, expect it to be however long it took you to get into ketosis in the first place. For most people it's 2-4 days. However, a person does not have to be in ketosis to be losing weight. Some people don't ever see ketosis register on their ketostix, but they still lose plenty of weight on a LC WOE. I have never used ketostix because I would prefer to spend my money on other things, but I have still done well on a LC WOE before. I wouldn't worry about it...as long as you are losing pounds and inches, the ketostix don't have to matter!

exactly what PoohBear said.

The popcorn was your down fall and most likely the reason for your upset stomach. Having such high starch carbs so soon after induction is a really bad idea. MUCH later on you can add it back in.

Stick to simple whole foods for now and keep your water intake high. It will help flush your system and get you back in the pink!

OH - and DON'T beat yourself up over this - we're only human!!!
