hello everyone!
I'm Marlene 23, years old with two children ages 3 1/2 and 7 months. I've been so busy and not able to eat the right foods and just watching my dh melt away has made me want to start too! I decided last night to get on atkins and today is my first day! and its going wonderfully. I've eaten right and feel great to finally accomplish something. I really want to do this for myself and can't wait to fit in my skinny clothes again! I've been struggling with my weight since having my first. I gained almost 90 lbs with him during my pregnancy! and with my second I barely gained. So Now I'm at 186 and miserable. I pray this works for me and I'm not going to weigh myself till Sep 17th. Exactly a month from my first day. And I'm going to be strong and keep running and working out. I can't wait till me and dh are happy and living healthy. Thanks so much for letting me join in on the fun!!

Hi I am new I started this "atkins" August 09,2004 my starting weight was 269 I am now as of 08/16/2004 263 6lbs gone this is wonderful. I am excited but at the same time feel failer comming. I have been on so many diets that my Husband has truely stopped supporting me in my weight loss effort (he could stand to lose some to ) so I decied to do this for myself and I show a person better than I can tell a person. I found this website because I was looking for support in this effort so here I am. I realized how big I was in July I went to my family reunion in PA and we took pictures and we all know a picture is worth a thousand words and OH MY GOD! I AM HUGE i look like a bear I I did not cry I just looked and I knew it was time. I did atkins before and I lost 10lbs but I got caught up in the products just because itsaid low carb or no carb I thought I could eat it well that is not the case. I have been on getting ont he treadmill every day I don't care if it is midnight I will get my 30 mins in everyday then after a month I will switch to someother exercise in addition to walking. I have become determine to do this. how do I get my stats and name to appear at then bottom of each post?

Welcome to the site Marlene and Lovemet! You've come across a wonderful site for help and support. Congratulations on making the choice to change you way of life! To Lovemet: Sounds like you have dieted alot and haven't had much success. If your husband is not being supportive of your weight loss efforts, do not let that discourage you or stop you from continuing on in your weight loss efforts. Your husband really should be supporting you and helping along every step of the way. Do not worry because you have just found some great support and help by coming to this site. Don't keep in your mind that failure is coming because if you think that, it will. You really must keep a positive attitude if want to be successful. Atkins does work. If you do it right, you will not fail. Low carb products are not what they are cracked up to be. If you failed on atkins before because of those, you weren't really on atkins. In the book it says to eat clean and stay away from processed foods. If you were eating those foods, you definately were not following the program correctly. This time around, stay away from those things. I stalled with them, as many of us here have. They are just bad news for most. Eat clean, whole foods. Drink 1/2 your body weight in water per day. You said you weigh 269. Then you should be drinking around 134 oz of water a day. It's difficult for alot of us to get that much in, but at least make a daily effort to get most of it in. It really does help alot in your weight loss efforts. If you stick to the program, the weight will start to come off. Your husband will soon become a believer! Maybe once he sees you are succeeding, he may want to join you. Who knows! Just keep exercising also. Once you feel more comfortable, move on to some toning exercise. There are alot of videos out there you can buy to do this. As you lose, you want to tone up your muscles so that you decrease your risk of excess skin when the weight comes off. Remember that there are alot of people here you can come to for support, help, questions, or anything you may need. For future reference, if you have a question or a topic you want to discuss, post a new thread about it instead of adding on to another one. Typically, when someone posts a thread, others just respond to that thread. You'll get much more responses if you have your own thread. Good Luck to you, and come back and let us know how your doing.

Thumbs up Re: Intro

I think I have found a wonderful place where I can find others who are out there with the same issues with food. I hope to hear from you all since I have no will power and need to build on this issue. I have gone through most of the site and its a wonderful and blessing to all of us who are in need of help and guidance. After reviewing the low carb plan options I find that they are not what I thought they would be ,lots of preperation and fancy foods. It appears to me that the hardest part is getting of the couch and going shopping for the right foods. Any support in my quest for the low carb life would be greatly appreciated. Bless you all for sharing your stories which I think is the first part of the journey on this road.

pene- i'm a big believer that you don't need willpower to succeed. willpower is too unreliable. it comes and goes in waves.

you need PLANS. eating plans of course, but others, too. a tough-day plan. a "the family is eating pizza and i feel left out" plan, a too tired to cook plan, a dying for a snack plan...you get the drift!

when you run into trouble or need ideas, the people here are great. start by making some plans and the number one thing you have to do, before you even go shopping: start to BELIEVE it's possible. 'cause i'm telling you straight from the heart, if i can do this, chances are good that YOU can, too!

WElcome Penne and lovemet! This site is a big part of why I am successful with the WOE!!! I rarely eat anything off plan and when I want to I can come here and someone will talk me out of it! I got this saying from here and I use it often--nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!
