| I started Induction 11 days ago and I dropped 6 lbs in the first 6 days but now nothing. I've stalled! My Ketosis strips constantly show I'm in ketosis.. I'm so discouraged. I am wondering if any more is going to drop off!! So if I'm in ketosis why aren't I losing any weight? |

| Not to worry.... patience is the key. It would be abnormal to see a weight loss every single day. It is so very common for people to go a week and more with no weight loss, and then get a whoosh - where a couple pounds drop off at once. Also, there is a different metabolic process going on during the first week or so of induction. The body requires more water to metabolize carbs. Once your body has fewer carbs to work on, that extra water is shed. So, part of the quick initial weight loss is water weight. Not that that's a bad thing! After all water weight takes up room too, so losing the water also makes you smaller. So, what you're seeing is normal. If you want to post some sample daily menus, we can look at it to see if you are making any unwise choices. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water. Water helps flush out the fat (not literally, figuratively). Good hydration is essential for weight loss. What plan are you following? I suspect it would help you to re-read the induction section of your book again for reassurance. Most plans give you a good set of guidelines and set up realistic expectations. Keep us posted with how it's going - folks here are very helpful and supportive. We're looking forward to getting to know you better.

| Wann, You have found the best support site for LCing. What Teelbee said is right on. And don't get discouraged! I have only lost 5 pounds in 6 weeks. Do try to post some daily menus. The people on this site are experts at spotting "weak points" that may be affecting weight loss.

| Hi Wann Please don't think of it as a stall, it really isn't. A stall is something that happens after you've lost a bit of weight and then don't lose ANY weight or inches for several WEEKS or MONTHS. Not just 5 days I know, it can be frustrating. The good news is, what you are going through is completely normal. After the first week or two of weight loss, the body often "takes a break" before allowing further weight loss to occur. It's very normal. I lost 8 pounds on induction and then nothing for almost a month! It was very nerve-racking but I held firm and eventually started losing again. Hang in there and welcome to the board!

| I lost only 8 pounds on induction - same thing with the k-stix. However, I made VERY sure the second 14 days was up to STOP doing induction and went right into OWL (since you used the term induction, I assume you're doing Atkins???). Since then the pounds and inches have been rolling off and I couldn't be happier with the results and variety of food. Interestly enough, I've also found that the days I don't eat enough carbs?? I actually am bloated the next day and the scale "pauses" (it's not really a stall, just a lack of patience on my part and my body saying "whoa, where's the food????") Welcome to LCE. The people here have been a wonderful inspiration to me and have kept me from making some really bad mistakes. I know we can all do the same for you!!

| Welcome, Wann. Please make yourself at home! Every one of us loses at a different "rate" and those "rates" are AVERAGES. Rare is the person who loses X pounds each week on schedule. The nice thing is that, even people with blood sugar and insulin resistance problems - who tend to lose at a glacial rate - DO LOSE. Some of us require more patience than others. The easiest way to deal with this issue is to come to the point where you realize that the way you are eating has a day-to-day impact on how you feel. When you kind of focus on how much better eating low carb FEELS to you, it's easier to have some sense of perspective on the weight loss part of it. I'm confident that if you adopt this as a life-style, you will normalize your weight - over time, and on your own body's schedule. Post often!

| Hi all, I am a new member. Today is my 17th day on the Introduction. I lost 6 lb on the first 7 days, then it was stable for about 4 days and after that I lost again about 2lb. It is now stable again !! I am wander if I am doing right??? Here is my menu: Breakfast: Scamble egg(Fat Free, Cholesteral Free) + saugesage(0 Carb) Lunch: About 3 cups of lettuce, Romaine Lettuce and mushroom with chicken + 4 Tbs of o Carb dressing Dinner: Stir fried extra lean beef (OR) Chicken Salad (OR) Chicken Soup (OR) Tuna Salad For my breakfast and Lunch, i usually cook the same thing because I dont have time and that's easy !! From my experience, I used to have about 4-5 oz of cheese, but I noticed that my weight was stable , so I decided to skipt it from my daily menu. Do you think that those amount of cheese make my weight stable, or I still can have that much? Anyway, please give me some suggestion whether I am doing right or wrong? Thanks. |

| Meggie, I am following the plan of the Introduction. Is'n it right? I think that my menu is not more than 20 g of carbohydrate for sure. Dont you think? Please please give me some suggestions or some menu from your experience. I am also curious whether I can eat something else beside the "Acceptable Food" of Dr. Atkins?? If I can, I should concern about the Carb and Sugar on the lable right?? But again, I am in the Introduction, for 18 days, and I only eat what I have posted !!! Thanks. |

| have you read the book or checked the newbies info here?? Have REAL eggs - that fake stuff your having now is not good for you. If it's Atkins your doing you need: MORE veggies to STOP induction ADD in some fruit - strawberries what's in that beef stir fry??? Is the sauce low carb/sugar free??? After 14 days you need to STOP induction - your body had dumped all the weight it's going to in this phase of the program. You will see better weight loss by adding in GOOD carbs at this point. Here is a sample menu of mine B- 2 eggs scrambled with mushrooms L - spinach salad with chicken bacon hb egg and feta cheese snack - handful of almonds 1/2 peach D - Roast beef, asparagus, dinner salad evening snack - low carb yogurt. hth

| Supansa, No one loses weight in a "straight line." There is progress and there are pauses. It sounds as if you're averaging 4 lbs per week. That's not a rate that's sustainable. What I mean is that, over time, your best rate of loss is usually 2 lbs or less per week. DANDR recommends that cheese be limited to 4 oz per day, some people eat less. Since you are following Atkins, why are eating extra lean meat and avoiding real eggs? Also, why are you still in induction?

| I too only lost 6 lbs during induction and then hit a stall. I persevered and it continued to come off. It will come off in fits and starts. Accept and expect that. Just keep doing what you are doing. Are you eating any of those LC BARS???? If you are, those might be sabotaging you. Get down to basics, real food and you loss will resume. Besides, the body loses and then goes through an adjustment period. When it's ready it will start the loss again. And did you take any measurements? The tape measure is the best way to see if you are losing, much better than the scale.

| Sounds like you are doing Atkins! Induction is for 14 days. Then you should slowly start adding GOOD carbs, at a rate of 5/day to see if you will still lose at 25 carbs/day. If you do, great! Do that for a week or so, then try adding another 5 carbs/day and repeat the investigational process. Sounds like maybe you do not have the book. If you do not, please buy it an read it! It is very, very important. As for your menu, I would pitch the low-fat stuff. You need FULL FAT. Of course, don't go overboard with it, either. You mentioned 4 to 5 ounces of cheese. That was too much for induction! I believe Atkins only endorses 3 ounces of cheese/day. However, you were a good detective because Atkins also mentions that if your weight loss stalls, omitting cheese is a good option. But, look at it this way. You have been on the diet for 18 days. You have lost a total of 8 pounds! That is fantastic! That is .4444 pounds A DAY! Just to clue you in, healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds A WEEK. So you are doing well. And please read all the answers that appear above your question. No weight loss for a few days is entirely normal. It is to be expected. You have to have patience. Please do not eat any of the LC bars or shakes. Stay with "natural" foods, and yes, you do need to read the label! Avail yourself to all the information on this site. It will really help you!
