I wouldn't. During induction you want to "detox" your body from all the carbs, sugar and chemicals that you've been eating for so long. Stay away from the shakes, bars, etc. because they contain sugar alcohols, glycerin (known to stall some people) and other "processed" junk. Try to eat real food. Veges, meat, cheese, WATER!

Besides, if you hate breakfast foods, don't eat them. Who said that you have to eat traditional breakfast foods for breakfast, anyway? Have a hamburger, or chicken, or whatever you'd rather eat instead of eggs. As a matter of fact, I just fed my DS (who is 2, by the way) a hamburger for breakfast, because that's what he wanted. (He also wanted a side of sausage, but we compromised and he had a side of blueberries instead).

So, there you have it. My 2?. Hope this helps you!

In his book, Dr. Atkins does not specifically say that controlled carbohydrate shakes should not be had. He does say to avoid the ones that have aspartame in them. So if the Slim Fast ones has aspartame, that would mean he wouldn't allow them. How many carbs are in them? Do they have sugar alcohols or glycerine in them? If so, they may interfere with your weight loss. If you absolutely must use them, pay attention to your body. If they cause you to stop losing weight, you might have to let them go. Personally, I see Induction as a time to give up all the processed foods and get back to the root of healthy eating. However, if those are your only option, you can use them and see if you can still lose weight while doing so.

I'm not familiar with it. List the ingredients so we can see how it matches up to the induction guidelines.

I find that most of the commercial shakes I've tried lead to food cravings - yeah, I could drink the whole six-pack in a day. As I don't want to do that, I've learned to steer clear -- but, YMMV.

What is it about breakfast you don't like? Maybe if we know the source of your discontent (lack of time, don't like to cook, prefer lighter foods while you wake up, feel hungrier before lunch if you eat early???), we can offer ideas or strategies that might work for you.

You can go here to find the nutritional information of the Slim Fast Low Carb Shakes.

Personally, I do not use any low carb shakes, and I certainly would not use them while in Induction since Induction is meant as a period of detoxification from processed food.

Once I restarted, I used them, I've lost 7 pounds this week. I love them, they're easy, quick to grab and taste great. I'm going by what works for me, not by rigid rules. I say, if it works for you, then use them, if you try them and they don't, then give the rest away.

i didn't care much for the taste of 'em anyway. generally, the advice is to avoid stuff like that on induction, although atkins may approve it ok. i don't remember. some people have no problems with them, and some do find they cause stalls. i would say it's a personal decision.
