Default low carb bread

I have found a new low carb bread here in the uk.It is called Nimble low carbs.it has 7 carbs per slice and i was wondering if this would be ok to eat.

I was planning on having 1 slice per day with my breakfast to stop the feeling of missing out(i am a bread lover).I thought as i also go to the gym 3 times a week this would be ok as a daily treat as long as it doesnt cause craving's.

any advise on this would be great.

If you are in induction--wait til you are finished, and if you are passed that, try it--if it causes cravings and problems you will hvae to give it back up, but bread is very much a YMMV thing (YOur mileage may vary). Some of us can eat one thing and others can't and no rhyme or reason to who or what!

ditto
I would avoid it totally during induction, as this is a time to "clean your eating habits" and eliminate cravings, identify addictions, etc.....
Afterr induction, add carb type foods gradually, there is a link that lists the order in which to re-introduce foods, I think it is on the newbe board.
Havng said that, I love having bread again! I found a whole wheat brand that was better than my available "low carb" brand! Read the label when you are ready to try it. The lc brand listed info for a single slice, the whole grain bread listed info for 2 slices, and still won me over!

hth!

After phase 1 (induction) I started working in a piece of bread every once in a while. I just look on the labels though and count it in with my daily carbs. I'm lucky that I can have apiece now and again. I don't have low carb bread in my house right now. I have tried the Sara Lee type before. But just because it was on sale, I wasn't LCE at the time. It was good but too airy. I think they lowered the carbs by fluffing it up with air.

I did wait until after the first two weeks though. That was important.

Read the ingredients carefully, some of these contain sugar, brown sugar, and high fructose corn syrup. And save it for after induction, and as an occasional addition.

If I have fried eggs I usually include a slice of LC toast. I find one slice in the morning doesn't hurt me at all. But when I started to have that one slice for breakfast and then a 2 slice sandwich at lunch, my weight loss stopped. Be careful with it. I keep mine in the freezer because it's less tempting that way.

LOL i like your thinking rob,my low carb bread is in the freezer as well. That way it will not go off and i use it as i need it.

just like to say also that im still going strong on my plan and return to the gym tomorrow.I have also worked 2 shifts out of 3 in the chinese and im not even tempted by the rice BUT i was tempted by the chips.I had to bring a portion home for my wife but as soon as i got home i went to the kitchen and made a smoked sausage(0.5g per sausage)and a good size. This killed my temptation and kept me firmly on track.

less tempting that way AND it lasts a heck of a lot longer than sitting out somewhere! I have always kept mine in the freezer--even before this WOE--becasue with three of us we didn't always finish it before it molded if I didn't!

Same here, I keep mine in the freezer 'cuz I don't use it up fast enough before it goes moldy. And I agree, don't eat it if you are on induction, save it for after that. My loss has really stalled and I don't know if is because of the bread, I don't have it all the time. I haven't GAINED from it though either. Mine contains LOTS of fiber!!!!! And check your ingredients and see if it has any hydrogenated fats in it, I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole then. Just 'cuz it says it's LC, doesn't necessarily mean its good for you.

I just got back from the store and found a new low carb organic bread. It's called Rudi's Organic Bakery. I had a piece with turkey and baby swiss piled high and it was pretty good. No hydrogenated oils. 6g per serving with 4g net. I too will have to keep it in the freezer, especially since it has no preservatives.

The breads fall into that Your Milage May Vary category. To this day I have problems with LC breads - and I've been in maintenance for a year. Once in a great while, I spread one slice of LC bread with peanut butter for a quick breakfast.

For On-going Weight Loss (OWL) Akins' book recommends adding additional carbs according to the following order:

Carbohydrate Ladder:

1. more salad and other vegetables on the acceptable food list.
2. Fresh cheeses (as well as more aged cheese)
3. Seeds and nuts
4. Berries
5. Wine and other spirits low in carbs
6. Legumes
7. Fruits other than berries and melons
8. Starchy vegetables
9 Whole grains

For my part, I've never done well if I go past #4 - I don't drink, so #5 is not an issue. But, any of those items #6 throuh #10 are very problematic for me. By now, for the most part, I don't miss them, though.

Dempsters has a low carb bread - 6g per slice - I've found it in my grocery store (Dominion's) here in Toronto, Ontario, for any of you Canucks out there

I'm giving all products with wheat gluten a hiatus for now to see if that will kick my weight loss back in. I dunno yet if it's making a difference. I think I'm going to give a 2 week try.
