Hi! My name is Nancy. I have just started the LCD. I have been on it for almost 2 weeks. I have not cheated all all but the scales have not moved. I feel that I have lost because of the way my clothes feel on me. Is this normal?

Yes, for some folks, they lose inches before they see movement on the scale. I suggest you take your measurements every week, so if the scale doesn't change, you will still see the inches move.

Welcome. I didn't get as much of a scale movement at first as I would have hope for but got rid of a "double belly" thing I had happening. Now the scale is moving but I can really tell in my clothing. I keep saying I'm getting a tape measure but when I get to the store I forget. I wish now I had had one before so I could say exactly how many inches down I am.

Be sure to drink your water as well.

Thanks for the replys. It does make me feel a little better. I will buy a tape measure and measure myself and maybe that will show me that I am doing some good. Another question that I have is about water. I just can't hardly drink water but I love the flavored water that you can buy at Walmart. It has no calories, carb, sugar or anything else in it. It does not have any thing sugar free either. Is this ok? I drink a lot of it. Thanks so much for being there for me. Nancy

You often get movement in either the inches or the pounds and not both at the same time. I drank a lot of that kind of water in the beginning and now I drink mostly plain water or crystal lite but still lots of plain water. I drink diet pop as well--hasn't affected me so far--but it might as I get closer to my goal weight. Keep up the good work--if hte clothes fit looser, you are making progress--people see the inches coming off, but not that number on the scale!

it's also very very helpful to pick a plan and get the book, which you will find very reassuring and helpful along the way. it's like a roadmap and i'd even go so far as to say that familiarizing yourself with a plan and trying it before you start tweaking too much is the best way to get consistent results.

on the water, if you start to cut back on your flavored and make sure your plain water is very cold, you most likely will develop a taste for it. you'd be surprised!

I think you are talking about those sparkling waters flavored with an essense of lemon, orange, or lime. I think those are perfectly fine. I've come to prefer regular still water most of the time, but I'll still order one of the sparkling waters if we go out to eat. They are very nice with a meal and the sparkle seems to intensify the flavors of the food. Every time you take a drink, think of the clear water as helping to flush out those fat cells -- Nice!

How about posting a couple of days of your food consumption? Then we can let you know if we see any areas that could be tweaked for better weight loss. Sometimes there are hidden carbs that can stall weight loss. The most notorious weight loss stallers are the so-called "low carb" bars. But there are other foods that can be problematic, too.

I have found this to be true also. It seems like the more water I drink, the more I want.

Thanks for everyone's help. It has make me feel much better about my diet. I bought a measuring tape while in town today and I measured myself, so I will know if I lose any more inches. Thanks again!!

Nancy,

Please take to heart Teelbee's suggestion of posting a few meal plans. It is a little unusual (but not unheard of) for people NOT to lose any weight during induction, if they are doing it right. And I believe those flavored waters do contain citric acid, which can stall some people, especially if used in large quantities. I know I cannot tolerate them. And I can't begin to tell you how many people get stalled because of low carb bars and shakes. I was one of them!

I agree with everyone - definitely post a few day's menus. You'd be surprsied at the little things that can add up...i.e., a tbsp of heavy cream can sometimes turn into 1/2 cup before you even realize it...I know that when it comes to this woe, people will lose inches before they see the scale move but that is usually after induction...the infamous 3rd week stall as some around here can attest to...

I think it's okay to drink sugar free flavored water in the beginning, but then slowly wean yourself off of it into drinking pure water. That's how I began. I used the torani sf vanilla and caramel syrups with iced, cold water. It made it easier for me to drink the water, and as the weeks went by, I'd just use less and less until I finally had myself weaned off of them completely. Now I can drink plain water all day long. I don't even miss the flaovred water!

Also, if you are using lc bars or shakes, might try to avoid those for a week to see if you show a weight loss. Those things will stall a lot of people. In the beginning, I never had too much of a problem with them, but now that I am closer to goal, I avoid them altogether.

Good luck to you!

Another suggestion with the water. I hated the chemical taste in the city water, but at work they ahd a PUR pitcher and I started drinking from that and it was great. My mom bought me one for at home after the baby came so I could get a lot of water in while pregnant/breastfeeding. Now I love the taste of good clean water. And since it's in the fridge it's always very cold. This also helps me keep track of how much water I drink by knowing how many times I've filled the pitcher.

I couldn't stand water several years ago. I even went through WW drinking regular pop. I finally switched to diet and then my husband quit drinking all pop and switched to only water. That was over six years ago and we both still drink tons of water. I really do crave it, also. It just takes awhile to get used to it.

Nancy, I can't add anything to what everyone has said so far. Just wanted to pop in and WELCOME you to LCE!!!!!

I had a problem with drinking plain water in the beginning, but now it's easy. I suppose your tastes will change after you've done this for awhile. I was a serious cokaholic before LC. So drink your sparkling water for now, but try to drink at least one whole bottle of water (16 oz. size) and then gradually replace it completely.
