| HI there. I have been on this WOE since the begining of August, and since the middle of September, my teeth hurt. I also grind, so maybe it has nothing to do with LC |

| I've never heard of anyone having tooth pain from any of the low carb eating plans. I'd check with my dentist if I were you. Maybe you need a night guard to alleviate some of the grinding problems. HTH.

| a sinus infection can make your teeth hurt too! I would talk to the dentist and check with your doctor if you have had a stuffy nose lately.

| Sometimes, my front teeth ache for a while if I've been -- not sure how to describe this -- if, I'm tense or thirsty I kind of suck on my teeth. Rarely, the same thing might happen if I've been sucking on a piece of hard candy. I know that sounds weird and I'm not sure I've described it in any intelligible way. It's kind of like pursing your lips with the tongue drawing back, making a vacuum. The pressure on the front of my teeth sets up a delayed pain response. Once it's kicked in, the ache takes a while to fade - I have to keep all pressure off of my teeth for 5 or 10 minutes. If there's any chance that's what your doing, conscienciously try to keep your lips parted.

| Funny, I have noticed since starting the Atkins diet that my teeth are just cleaner all the time, I think from not having sugar and starch coated on them. That's the only change for me. I suggest you go to your dentist. No one deserves a toothache! Fell better, Zephyr |

| Heather, chewing gum a lot can cause your teeth to hurt or be sore. Grinding or clinching called bruxism, can be a definite cause. Sinus infection can also be a culprit. |

| Do you drink diet soda that is sweetened with aspratame? I have sensitive teeth and after drinking diet soda my teeth tend to hurt and be very sensitive to the cold. I guess the asparatame eats away at the enamel or something. Does this happen to anyone else? Hope this helps! -Elli |

| I bought (and ate....but not the whole thing!) a can each of the Comstock sugar free splenda-sweetened cherry and apple pie fillings and my teeth were sensitive to heat and cold for a week afterwards. I have not had sensitivity in my teeth like that since before I began LCing. I wonder what set that off.

| I think it was heather that posted about this... lol yes you are right i to am having the same problem... A few months ago i started drinking low carb coke... I didnt think anything about it at the the time but my teeth started to bother me.. right up front too... Well i kept drinking it and i never gave it another thought.. well i ended up switching to bottled water and reg coke... Didnt have a tooth ack once.. then today while shopping i bought a c2 coke.... Sure enough instant tooth pain and thats when i put two and two togeather the low carb coke was causing it... so i typed it in google and found your post here lol so i hope this helps. I did go to my dentist too.. and he found nothing wrong with my teeth and couldnt understand why it was going on... and on top of that i have to go back again.. So if you are drinking the low carb soda give it up and switch to water... The food may be causing it or it may not be but i know the soda was the cause of mine.. hope this helps a bit. |

| Erythorbic, I think you are right to suspect that you have a sensitivity to Splenda (which is in C2), but I just wanted to point out to our newbies that there is NO SUCH THING as "low-carb coke!" C2 has half the sugar of regular Coke and the other half is Splenda, but it is still loaded with carbs -- and bad ones at that! The only sodas one should drink with this woe (way of eating) are sugar-free and those should be few and far between so as not to interfere with water intake, etc. Also, there have been some studies indicating that just eating or drinking something sweet-tasting can elevate bloodsugar/insulin levels in some people, so it's best to make these a rare *treat*. Of course, if you have a sensitivity to Nutrasweet (Aspartame) or Splenda (Sucralose), you should avoid them altogether! Hope this makes sense.
