Please remember to eat lots of veggies during your induction, especially those salads, I ate a great big salad for lunch and dinner, and felt full all the time.
Also drink your water... 1/2 your body weight in oz so if you weigh 200, drink 100 oz of water per day....seems like a lot but it really helps flush out the gunk in your system.
keep snacks you can eat, carrot and celery sticks, ham with cream cheese and pickles (ham roll ups) hard boiled eggs - develed eggs, cheese (becareful of too much cheese i believe atkins says no more than 4 oz per day)
throw out all the things you shouldn't eat, white flour, rice, potatoes, chips, chocholate, etc. get them out of your house.
buy sugar free jello, all flavors, and make it up and keep it in your fridge, it really helps having that in the house when the urge to eat something sweet hits.
good luck, welcom to a new way of eating (WOE)

Just re-read your last post, a lot of people have no problems with caffeen.
you can try one cup of coffee or one glass of tea per day to see how you do. I can have 1/2 a cup of caffeen, but usually drink decaf all the time, and havn't had a problem.

Kristal, just remember that induction should only last 2 weeks. Then you can add some fruits back. (that should keep DH happy) Also, don't forget to add nuts back after induction. I would not eat ANY carrots until after induction too. But man, I filled up on raw veggies during induction..........cauliflower, cukes, celery, bell peppers and raw zucchini and whatever dip I felt like as long as it didn't contain any sugar. I found Ranch dressing to be perfecto. I would also make sour cream dips with a bit of dried minced garlic, a bunch of dried dill and a dash of seasalt. YUM!!!!

Remind DH that induction is only for 2 weeks!!!!! Just two teeny weeks out of his entire life, not long at all, not long at all. He can DO IT!!!!!!!

Krystalrose- I am reading the Atkins book to and have decided that it is what I want to follow also.

Melissa- twell me how tough the first two weeks will be? How can I keep from crashing and falling back to my old eating habits? What can I do when I do feel like i am going to crash? I want to stick to this so bad and lose my 100 lbs. so its really important for me to stick to introduction.

Barb--Is green tea ok on low carb? I hear it is and then i hear it isn't...

Carolynintexas-I will try the sugar free jello. My mother use to make jello all the time and i love it especially the cherry. But this has to be sugar free, right?
Is there any desserts i can make with this jello or do I just need to eat it plain?

Mary, YES!!!! Drink green tea!!!! It will rev up your metabolism and give you lots of wonderful antioxidants and keep you young looking.

Have a treat of diet rootbeer and a splash of cream once in awhile if you are climbing the wall or about to crash and burn.

You can make your own splenda sweetened jell-o with:
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
1 packet of unflavored gelatin - I prefer Knox
1/2 packet of any flavor of Kool-aid mix-unsweetened little packets
2/3 cup of pourable splenda + 1 TBS.

Dissolve gelatin thoroughly in the boiling water. Add the remaining ingredients. Pour into another container or individual dishes. Chill at least 4 hours. (Make this at night before going to bed and it will be ready for you the next day.)

Make homemade whipped cream by chilling a glass or metal bowl and your beaters in the freezer for a good 20 minutes.

Put your whipping cream in the freezer for about 10 mins to get it good and cold too.

Pour 1 cup of the cream into the chilled bowl and beat on high for about 5-7 mins--it should begin to firm up by then. Add a couple packets of splenda or about a TBS.

Top your jell-o with whipped cream....................HEAVEN!!!!!

Mock Danish:
3 oz. cream cheese-softened in microwave 30 secs or so.
1 egg- whipped - Add to cheese and blend well.
Add 1 tsp. cinnamon and 2 TBS of splenda or 2-3 packets and a dash of vanilla.
Cook in the microwave for 2:30 minutes or so, until center is firm. Eat warm or cold. After induction, you can thaw out 5 strawberries, add a packet of splenda and top your mock danish with that. (I mush them up to make them like a sauce) You could leave out the cinnamon too, for more of a strawberry shortcake kind of dish. I also like to add 2 TBS of flaxmeal to my MD to make it more of a cake consistancy. And I also add 2 TBS of Almond flour too to make it more like cake.

Hope this stuff helps keep you on the straight and narrow. I know what it's like to go crazy wanting a treat, but not knowing what to have. With these recipes, hopefully you will survive that period and keep going. Don't give into temptation!!!!

There's always cut up veggies and dip too!!!!!
And ham rolls.........thin sliced deli ham spread with cream cheese with chopped green onion or green olives or both, rolled up.............DELISH!!!!!!

Drink your WATER TOO!!!!!!!!

Hi Kristal!!!! I really hope this works for you! I just re-started eating low carb (on sunday) and well the first days are really tough all you can think about sometimes is that delious food. Do your best at staying out of the kitchen and not watching tv. I have found both of these very helpful! If you are to watch tv try something like painting your nails or lifting dumbells it helps just to keep your hands busy. Are you doing any kind of exercize while you are on this diet plan? When you eat low carb after a day my mom and I both feel so energized and better by not eating carbs! I would have to strongly agree with Rhalvahn by staying away from the diet coke, pepsi, and all pop. As you probably know pop has NO nutritional value and it leaches calcium from your bones. This smiley face chart has acually kept me on chart you could print one for you and your husband and put it on your fridge thats what I did. it was posted on here a few months ago. http://www.chilel-qigong.com/100daygong1a.jpg
I think it is really smart your joining this support forum becasue I already feel like alot of these members on here are already my good friends and SO helpful with any questions i have even though i have only been on here since Friday!
I would love to help you with anything i can!

BTW, for those who are not familiar with the GONG sheet. Notice there are no smiles on the faces. You draw a smile in for each day you stay on-plan (or whatever your goal may be)

It's a GREAT tool for beginners. It helps keep you accountable.

Ok I am posting at the end of this so say I am new again tooo for hopefully the last time. I seriuosly tried to lie to myself that this wasnt the only way I could loose weight but it is without feeling insane or hungry constantly. So this is a public anouncement at the back of the bus, lol.

Barb, I love that Gong sheet.

Are there any other charts you know of that we can print out like the gond sheet to help us newbies?

Barb -- than you SO much for the recipe. I can't STAND jello brand stuff b/c they use aspartame. We used to have Jolly Ranchers jello that used sucralose - but it's not on the shelves anymore. I'm going to make me some jello! *jumping for joy* *Yippee!*

Rhalvahn, glad I could help!!!!

Mary, I don't know of any other sheets out there.

One thing I found helpful in the beginning was to make a notebook. I put in there, any recipes I printed out off the internet, the gong sheet, a daily journal of my food intake, and the food counts and just journaling how I felt for the day.

I should really do that again, but I need to get organized.
