Talking Not-so-newbies - how's it going?

I've been soo good since the cereal incident. Lots of salad, eggs, wings (I just started a new job and haven't been cooking much).

No drop on the scale yet, but TOM is just around the corner, so I'm happy it's not going up! The really good news is that I have that funny feeling in my stomache that I always get just before a big loss. Can't explain it, but I know it when I feel it! :jump:

How's everyone's week been going?

Glad you got back on plan. TOM stinks when your losing weight because of the bloat.

Hope your feeling predicts some great results after TOM is over. You sound like you're working towards a loss.

Unhappy Re: Not-so-newbies - how's it going?

I "relapsed" most of November and December, guys. It was awful, just couldn't stop myself - cheesecake, oranges, apples, more cheesecake... :-( Started back several times, but always gave up in a day or two. I was at 178 in November and went back up to 182 now. I started it back again with the New Year's but it's much harder somehow - I am just incredibly bored with the food and always crave something I cannot have (mainly oranges and real chocolate). I guess I need more discipline (which I usually have when it comes to other stuff - I quit smoking years ago cold turkey - but when it comes to food, oh!). Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks...

Dahlia

Dahlia, sorry you are having trouble getting back into the swing of LC things. If it's just oranges and chocolate, what I would do is search for an orange drink substitute that is LC. I know Hood makes one, and there is the Atkins Morning Start powder that is mixed with water. I used that as a substitute when I made my Orange-Pecan Yams for Thanksgiving. As for the chocolate, I like the At Last chocolate bars. They are made with Erythritol, so the polyols won't have you running to the bathroom. I believe they are available at Walgreens or WalMart. Of course, the caveat (there always is one, isn't there?) is not to go overboard. But if you can sub a LC version when the urge is really strong, perhaps you will be able to overcome the cravings and stick with LC eating. Good luck!

I am doing well I refuse to get on the scale though. I still have a week before all that anyway and I may say forget it and not stand on the dumb thing anyway. I have had wierd dreams though. I have been exercising too.

Thanks, Alida. I haven't tried Hood orange drink (usually, I either use sugar free Tang or Crystal Light), mainly because I tried their milk and it made me sick. I will have to give it a shot with the orange drink, it seems, and see how it goes.
Same goes for chocolate - never heard of the At Last, have to look for it. I usually buy Hershey's One Gram chocolate bars and peanut butter cups (my weakness :-))) - the problem is staying within one or two a day. :-)) If I don't, it's like you said - bathrooom runs. And with all the broccoli and cauliflower - well, it's not pleasant. :-)
In any case, I hope I can push through this period. Thanks again for the advice. I also joined the 100 days cheat free challenge and that might help too. It's good to have someone to do this LC with, even if it's only virtual.

Hey Dahlia!!, if you're needing a chocolate fix, try this: Take a Chocolate Atkins shake (Or EAS or Carb Solutions) and chill it and pour it into a deep glass (if you have one of those handy stick blenders) or reg. blender. Add a couple of ice cubes and 2 TBS. unsweetened cocoa powder (Hershey's is the best), a couple two or three packets of splenda and blend it all up with your blender. I also use a TSP. of Xanthan gum to really thicken it and add while blending. That fixes me right up. I have the 1 carb bars, but avoid them whenever possible, because they give me such bad gas or worse!!!! this is my new ultimate treat!!!!! YUM!!!!!

Barb, went shopping immediately and I can tell you, you are a life saver! Or at least a diet saver.. :-))) It worked like a charm and it's delicious! Didn't use the Xanthan gum, but added one of the Carb Counter's vanilla yogurts - it upped carb count by three, but, God, I was good for the entire evening. Had this smoothie at 6 p.m. and did not feel the need to eat anything else till now. Thanks, Barb!

I am doing good, if the scale were cooperating I would say great...bt somehow I am still not losing though I am maintaining nicely...I am beginning to think my body is screaming--stop this, let me be 165 + or - and get it over with...I see my signature weight about once a week...so I know I am right there...but often I am 163, 164, even 165 now and again...just can't seem to get below there...grrrrr!

I'm ok just not feeling too weight lossish. My butt looks bigger today and my checks look swollen. But I am on a new Birth Cntrol so that maybe why I am in a weird mood.
