Welcome, vwmom.

Congratulations on your great start! Our vegetarian members don't post a lot, but they're here.

Hopefully one will happen by with their experiences.

Welcome! You have done a fantastic job so far! I think Atkins also mentions doing vegetarian in his book. It's probably also mentioned on his site www.atkins.com

Please visit often!

Welcome aboard!

I just recently switched over to a moderate carb vegetarian plan (the day after Christmas) after doing Atkins for Life for a litte over two years. And it is working well for me. I was never much of a big meat eater before Atkins but Atkins was what really helped me lose my weight in the beginning, and once I hit a maintenance range, I decided it would be safe enough to move over into moderate carb vegetarian.

And of course, nowadays, they have the meatless bacon, meatless burgers, meatless this and that...I haven't tried any of the 'meatless' stuff yet, so I'm not sure what is put in it...but I've talked to other lc vegetarians who have used a lot of the meatless products, and they, too have had much success.

I wish you much success on your journey of lc vegetarianism!

I'm not a vegetarian but I love Boca products and most are very low in carbs/high in fiber! Good luck!

Hey vwmom,

I'm in Canada too and I can tell you that BOCA brands are in the regular grocery stores now. They have been for about a year now and they are quite popular (at least in our home they are...hehe). Try Loblaws or Dominion....even Sobeys... They all have em!

Good luck,
Krystyne

P.S. Boca products are YUMMY!!! And legal!! WOOHOO!

Hey there- I may be completely unaware of what I'm talking about, but to the best of my knowledge, lactose is a SUGAR found in cow's milk, which means that you wouldn't want to consume much of it on Atkins anyway. Look for zero carb cheeses... if there is no carbs, no sugars, then minimal lactose. Milk and yogurt are bad for atkins b/c of the natural sugars (lactose) found in them, but most cheeses don't contain much. Am I wrong people? Welcome to the board...
