I'm back after a couple years, even more pounds than last time. After a rough and tumble couple of years and changes for our family I find I need to be able to feel more comfortable in my own skin and I especially need that clear headed feeling I get with Low-Carb.

Induction start a few days ago and I jumped on the scale this morning and I see it went down a bit but my official weigh day is Thursday (I have some time for myself on that day usually).

I notice that so many of you are still here providing support to each other. That is such an inspiration.

Well, I am off to measure me...YIKES!

Have an abundant year everyone.

I used to live in Cordova in the early 70's....in fact I was just telling Noel that last night (she lives in Denver and is dealing with mucho snow)and it made me wonder what ever happened to you...and here you are! How cool is that? Welcome back! I've been more gone than here for the last few months, but I'm back now. See ya around!

Smile I'm a believer!

I'm new here and thought I would introduce myself. I've been overweight my whole life. I've been on tons of diets and lost weight but have always gained the weight back. I went on South Beach a year or so ago and convinced myself that all of the protein was making me sick. I lasted about 2 weeks.

On January 5th of this year my husband's doctor recommended he go on a lc diet because he had metabolic syndrome. After the doctor listed all of the symptoms I realized I was a prime candidate as well.

I did tons of searches on the internet, bought an Atkins book and a low carb cook book. I always thought that Low carb was a bad way to go. Too much protein and fat and not enough vegetables. Well the Atkins book said you can have vegetables, you just have to watch which ones. It also talks about lean meats and yes you can eat fat but you should basically eat good fats.

After taking in a lot of information, I decided to do a modified Atkins. I probably am taking in about 20-60 g carbs a/day. I am just amazed. Since January 5th I've lost 18 pounds! I'm never hungry. I only eat 3 meals a day and one snack. I used to eat every couple of hours.

I have so much more energy. I used to be exhausted everyday around 3pm. I just couldn't keep my eyes open. Now I'm wide awake. If anything, the problem is I'm not tired anymore. I've actually had problems going to sleep.

Well there's my intro. I hope to learn a lot from you guys.

Hello all! I have kind of a funny story -- I was vegan for five years and gained about 25 pounds. Now I am on the Atkins Diet (second day into Induction). Strange, huh? lol

It's hard to believe that you can eat all these usually-off-limits-when-dieting foods and still lose weight, but I have heard too many success stories to not trust this. I look forward to meeting you all!

Smile Re: Greetings newbies!

Thanks for the welcome!

Getting married in 3 weeks, and i would like to drop a few pounds. I know that I should be in it for the long term, and afterwards I probably will be. For now though, I want to be a slim(ish) bride!

Would love a buddy, or supporter to help me stick to it for 3 weeks...21 days...504 hours...surely I can give up bread and pasta and oizza and potatoes for 504 hours!

many thanks for your time

Best Wishes

Jo xxx

Hello everyone. I have been on the low carb before (atkins) and lost 60 lbs, but as I usually do I fell by the wayside and went into my old eating habits and gained it all back and some. I am in my 2nd week of induction and finding it harder this time to keep from letting that little voice from telling me.." just a little taste."...and I do mean hard. I bought some low carb bread and I know I can't eat it on induction, but I'm craving a sandwitch of tuna and tomatoes. Anyway I thought joining this group of great people would help me to stay on track, and give me some encouragement. Thanks for being here.
