Hi Barb. Fell off the wagon after our move back to Ohio and gained 12 pounds. Recently recommitted to LC and will probably be doing strict induction this week.

Hi Barb,

Hope all is well with you and everyone else here.

Boy, did i have a head yesterday and today, from what i'm reading that is a good sign, i must be doing simular to induction after all?

I'm doing very well with food, not hungry at all.

I am drinking lots of water and passing it, i was curious this morning so i got on my scales and i am three lbs down, i started low carb on Monday so in three days i must have passed three lbs of water.
What do you think of that Barb, not bad :bellydanc

I haven't had a chance to properly shop so i'm hopeing tomorrow i can do it.

Talk later,

Bron?

OH Brona' that's FABULOUS!!!!!!!! You're off and running!!!!!! The initial weight loss will be somewhat dramatic. It WILL slow down tho, so be prepared for that. It usually stalls out around the third week, but not to worry, it will resume again as long as you stick with the program.

You have to go back to www.tickerfactory.com and change it up. Just click it right here and it will take you directly to the site. You'll have to start all over again there, it seems the link on your ticker is disabled. I disabled mine too, it was taking up too much space in my sig file.

Hello Barb,

Just want to update you. Today is my 7th day on induction, i have lost 9lbs.

It has been a little difficult substituting foods over here but i'm doing ok with it.

Headaches eased by Saturday thank god I'm a bit tired of water, i look at my hubby drinking tea and coffee and sometimes i feel i would like something hot.

I bought decaf coffee but it's not allowed on induction? if i have a small cup will it make a difference, any tips you have i'd appreciate them

Brona - Have the decaf, a cup a day won;t do any harm. Many of us here never gace up fully caffeinated coffee and tea. If you think caffeine will be a problem and you want something hot try an herbal tea. But I think even a cup of regular eta a day won;t stall you. By the way congratulations on the 9 pounds lost!! That's a very good one week loss.

Brona', that is AWESOME!!!! I only lost 6 lbs during induction, so you are ahead of the game as far as I'm concerned. You are OFF AND RUNNING!!!!! :jumpgreen I switched to totally decaf coffee when I started this WOL, but I did it gradually. I did suffer headaches in the beginning too, but that did subside. Can you get GREEN tea there in Ireland? If you can, you can have that either with caffeine or decaf. There isn't nearly as much caffeine in it like coffee. I flavor mine with vanilla. You can also flavor it with spices like cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg...........whatever you fancy. That's sort of what is in Chai tea...........don't know if Chai has swept Ireland yet, but it's really BIG here in the states. when I first started drinking the green tea, I was using half and half in it, but wasn't losing weight like I thought I would. Since I started leaving that out, I have lost about 4 lbs........for good. I had stalled for a very long time until I started with the GT. Green tea helps rev up your metabolism and is full of antioxidants and very healthy!!!!! I suppose you could order it online if you can't get it there. I just LOVE it!!! I haven't had but two cups of decaf coffee since I started drinking the green tea in November. I think I am addicted to it. I pretty much just drink green tea and water now, exclusively. The green tea is also good iced with lime and splenda. since doing the green tea, my weight has dipped down into the 130's and has stayed there...........quite an accomplishment for me............I move at a snail's pace.

One thing I want to prepare you for so you don't get discouraged............around the third week, there seems to be an inevitable stall. How long it lasts varies with everyone. For me, I think it lasted about 6 weeks. Don't lose heart if this happens to you. It seems to be normal. You just have to ride it out. Then the loss slows down to 1-2 lbs per month. That rate varies too, depending on your own unique metabolism, your amount of exercise, how much water you drink. Some people resume their loss after that dreaded stall with 1-2 lbs per week. They are the lucky ones.........I was NOT one of them. But I stood my ground, waited it out, stuck to my guns and kept going. I am finally here today with a loss of 36 lbs (on average) and very near my goal weight. This took me almost 2 yrs to do, but I'm fine with that. I am going to eat this way the rest of my life, and I wasn't in a race. So whatever happened, happened. I HAVE upped my amount of exercise and water, which I will probably have to do the rest of my life.

Just wanted to warn you about that so you keep on track and get to your eventual goal, no matter how long it takes.

Thank you Rob for your congrats

It's very strange you know, when i came to the board two weeks ago i was adamant that i did not want to follow Atkins because i was SO SCARED OF THE FATS, i started off just doing low carb and honestly did not realise that i was doing induction, how that happened i really can't tell you because i spent most of the time substituting foods over here, isn't that amazing?

Now, here i am one week on induction 9lbs down, always feel full as an egg, no craving, i even passed on Sunday lunch, i had my son over with his wife, they love my Chicken Curry ( i do make a great curry ) i prepared my lunch seperate and was very happy with myself although i must admit my Curry was Soooooooo tempting

Many thanks again Rob for your post and help, keep fingers crossed for me.

Thank you for all the tips Barb,

That's great that i can have the odd decaf coffee, i'm really not a coffee drinker but it looks more filling than tea

Yes, we do have Green Tea over here, about a year ago i was drinking it on a regular basis along with Peppermint Tea but my acid reflux came back with a vengence, i think it was the Peppermint Tea that did it, i never really got it under control after that BUT since starting this way of eating i have not had a reflux so far fingers crossed, i was constipated for a few days, could not understand it as i take psyllium husk always, i had to take a laxative last night, enough about that subject while we are talking about food:fork:

I'm wondering how i will do after induction going on to next phase?
Why does weight stall for so long?

Oh! i forgot to mention this before but i hate advocados, am i correct in saying that i should eat them on induction? what can i substitute?

I have loads of questions but will leave for another time.

Many thanks again Barb.
