Default Newbie here?!? Kinda

Hi all! I don't know how many will remember me. I noticed that I haven't been to this website in over a year and a half. Imagine my surprise! Wow the changes.

I feel like a newbie. I started LCing again a little over a week ago. I will tell you what, I can not believe all of the changes in the supermarkets. I am having a major issue with going shopping and not picking up some LC candy or sugar free something. I am not really sure why I am having this problem, LOL. Just so many choices I want to tast it ALL!

Alright, I just wanted to say hello again. I am once again facing to lose 60-70 lbs. I don't know where I want to be yet. I just want to be somewhere comfortable. I am not to thrilled with the national "guidelines" for healthy...sooo here i go again!

Hello and welcome back. I joined almost a year ago and have made this place my permanent home! I am a Turtle (slow loser), but only feel normal when I'm eating right, regardless of if I'm losing or not.

Keep us posted and catch up when you can,

Welcome back. I chose my "goal" by the guideines. It was right on the cusp of where I would be considered "overweight". But I believe that since I haven't been under 200 since grade school I would probably would be thrilled to death at reaching 199.

I know what you mean about all the lc stuff in the store. We have the russell stover candies buy one get one free. I just want to buy all the toffe and pecan delights I can get my hands on. I know they are bad but they flaunt them at us don't they!

Welcome! Just a note of caution: I, too, did Atkins years ago before all the lc foods were available. When I started up again last July, I indulged in the shakes and the bars. Can you say STALL? So please try to do induction "clean." I think you will be really glad you did! It's only two weeks out of your life. Now that I am close to goal, I do sneak in the occasional Atkins Advantage Bar and it seems to be OK.

Please post often and let us know how you are doing!

Welcome back! Ditto about saving the LC products for later. Whole natural foods are your friends.

Welcome back!

I agree with everyone else, ditch the LC products. I know how you feel, believe me. I've been doing this for almost 4 years and back in the day, there was almost nothing out there for us LCer's. I always used to think, "if only they'd have, this, that, etc. in low carb!"

Well, now they do and you know what? IT STINKS!

All it does is make you have to have even MORE will power against the things that make you stall. Used to be you couldn't even THINK about touching a cookie or shake or bread or tortilla because you knew it was nowhere NEAR being low carb.

Now, the little voice in the back of your mind says "hey, it's OK, it's low carb. And besides, they wouldn't make it and CALL IT low carb if it wasn't!"

Not true. They do call it low carb even when it really isn't. It's a technicality where many say they aren't lying but in reality, in translates into problems for the lc dieter.

I have been on induction for four days now and I have been tempted to get the lc stuff but realized it wasn't all that low carb adn would just set met back. I ahve stuck to my plan of eating lots of veggies and sticking with my servings of cheese, eggs, meat, and tuna and have lost 5 pounds already and I am thrilled. Just stick with the healthy stuff as hard as it is, you will feel so much better about it and your results so just stick with it for two weeks. You can do it.

Whole foods in their natural state are best--I don't mean everything raw...but everything recognizable as it is...carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, you name it!
