| I was really opposed to the bars... all of them... Atkins, Advant Edge, momentum, blah blah. One day I was stuck at school and had forgottem my wallet so I picked through my car and found two dollars, enough for an advantage bar in the bookstore... (I should mention that my emotional triggers for sugar are pressed when situations like forgetting my wallet present themselves)So yes, the advantage bar was the healthy alternative to the Kit Kat I checked out for a second. I react to sugar alcohols, and when I don't I freak out b/c I know what that means, so I really just avoid them. If I do eat them I always count grams before doing it... and perhaps you can imagine my surprise upon seeing that atkins does not have sugar alcohols in their bars any more. Check it out. I looked at that wrapper at least twenty times. They use glycerine and polydextrose, and splenda. I promise I am not hallucinating. Zephyr |

| Wow, that's interesting. I have the bad sugar alcohol reaction in that I crave more. Maybe this will be the answer for when I want something sweet. (Instead of the pecan delights.)

| That IS interesting and may explain why my local dollar store is selling Atkins Advantage bars 3 for $1. Although, I was tempted to buy more, I only bought six of them. I have a bad reaction to them and think they slow me down. I will have to check them out! Meg

| I don't think Atkins has ever used sugar alcohols in their snack/breakfast bars. It's the candy bars (endulge) and other candies, and ice cream and muffin mixes, etc. that have a lot of maltitol. The snack/breakfast bars have a lot of glycerine which, while it doesn't usually have digestive effects, does raise blood sugar (in some of us, significantly) and in others causes cravings. As long as you use a TRUE net carb count (Total carbs minus only fiber) and that number fits your needs AND the bars don't cause cravings and/or stall you, then they're fine. For most people, they're not. YMMV.

| Ah- ha! Glycerine is a blood sugar culprit... While I don't notice the moodiness and cravings when I have eaten those bars, I have noticed that I don't have a flat stomach the next day, which is the first indicator for me of Weight loss Stall. Maggie The Wise, thank you for your comments. If I wasn't generally opposed to Insta-food, I may ignore it because I am not obese or even overwieght, nor have I ever really been, but knowing that this glycerine spikes the blood sugar will make me avoid them. It is a better option than the Laxi-Snax, however (which is what I call the endulge bars, etc) |

Ain't that the truth! My local dollar store had the Momentum bars $1/box. I had one of the chocolate (pretty tasty) but, boy, I paid the price. For emergencies only now!
