    Default chinese food

my family is going to my favorite chinese food place tonight. haven't been there since i started my diet. i really want to go. i usually only eat the meats. orange chicken, sweet adn sour pork, shrimp, etc.

is it ok to eat these? i know it has sauce, but it is just meat right? I think the sweet and sour pork is breaded so i won't eat that. but i know the orange chicken isn't breaded. does anyone know anything about chinese food and if it's ok to eat on atkins? i'm 1 month into atkins, so i'm no longer on induction if that means anything. any quick answers would be very appreciated. thanks.

*** sigh *** Chinese is not the best choice. Most sauces in commercial establishments have plenty of cornstarch in them, and many have sugar as well. If you can find something without rice, noodles, sauce or breading, you're probably ok.

Keep this in mind: Do the best you can, and enjoy a night out with your family. Tomorrow, just go back to doing what you have been doing. Next time you go out to eat, suggest Outback, or TGI Fridays or Applebys, where lc friendly foods are readily available.

My idea may be to late...but ask for a beef and broccoli dish, no added sugar. If possible ask to have stir fry veggies and beef or chick, NO sauce...just *tossed cooked*. The Chinese restaurant we frequent will do these type dishes upon request, and they are yummy. Of course avoid the rice and eggroll....and drink lots of water if you endulge in to much soy sauce

    Good luck and have fun!

Beef or chicken and broccoli is good--tossed cooked--most made to order restaurants will do this when requested...if not avoid the sauces and of course the rice, noodles, egg rolls and the like and just do the best you can...enjoy tonight and go back to what you have been doing tomorrow!
