| Hey Achilles! Hmmm, I dunno if I'd take this if I were you...it's main ingredients are Ephedrine, Caffeine and Aspirin.... Ephedrine for one I know (minoring in chemistry a while back) is the main raw ingredient in methamphetamine or street name "crank".... I can't imagine what one would feel like with Ephedrine, Caffeine AND Aspirin in their system.... Sleep may be out of the picture. No wonder why people lose weight, it also is a MAJOR appetite supressant as it activates the sympathetic nervous system, or the "fight or flight" reflex, you know the feeling you get when you are speeding at lights speed down the road and turn the corner only to see the cops right there with a radar device.... Not a good thing to take... Ephedrine is also in common cold and allergy remedies, which I can't take cuz it feels like there are snakes in my hair. Yikers. Just my 0.02 cents.... -K |

| they dont' sell hydroxycut with ephedrine anymore, the FDA wasn't liking it, if i recall correctly. They sell ephedrine free hydroxycut now, which is much better. which is why i don't mind taking it.

| Well, that's GOOD news! Hehe. The FDA are right on the ball with that one. So what's in it that new ephedrine-free product that promotes the weight loss??? Have you read any studies or anything? Fill me in! -K |

| It downloads as a pdf, Kim. But, for some reason, unlike other pdf's, my Adobe reader seems unable to enlarge it enough to read the ingredients, so I have no opinion about the product.

| OK. I got it enlarged. I haven't got a clue as to what half that stuff is, so I remain without an opinion. It does have caffiene listed as an ingredient.

| Well, Achilles, do report your results! I have shied away from these types of products. Although, a 60 Minutes report on Hoodia did pique my interest. It's grown in Africa and is now being cultivated and sold as a weight loss supplement. I noticed Netrition is selling a form of Hoodia. The 60 Minutes report did go on to say that NONE of the tribal people in the region who eat Hoodia are FAT! Sorry, can't remember more of the report.

| JMO... but the fact is... most products speed up heart rate and often increase blood pressure and neither of those is a really good thing. I understand you are looking to speed up your results.... but may I suggest you try green tea before any of those "unnatural products". You will find the post in the challenge forum about green tea. It has lots of benefits, antioxidants, and the best one is the metabolism booster. I really would try that before you go for any "diet pills". |

| I took a quick look and noticed that there was a non-caffeine version as well. The ingredients are as follows: calcium: 152mg chromium: 133mg potassium: 225mg Hydroxagen Plus, which is made up of (Garcinia Cambogia, Gymnema Sylvestre, Glucomannan, Alpha lipoic acid and willow bark extract.) Caffeine-free green tea extract It's the ingredients in the Hydroxagen Plus that I'm unfamiliar with. According to my Phyllis Balch book, Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant (good) and glucomannan is kind of like a fiber. It expands to give a feeling of fullness and helps clean out the colon. I couldn't find any information on the willow bark, Garcinia Cambogia or the Gymnema Sylvestre. If I were you, I'd give the Internet a search for these ingredients to learn more about them before trying the product. Other than these items, the rest look OK to me.

| Believe me, I know how tempting all this stuff is. I hang around the displays at the Wal-Mart all the time reading labels, thinking wishfully. But that's what it mostly boils down to: wishful thinking. These products include a variety of ingredients--many of them mentioned above--whose chief effect is lightening your wallet. Low-carb isn't about speed. It's about endurance. Stick to the program without high-priced snake oil, and you'll get where you want to go. Spend the money you'll save on the best quality veggies you can buy. |

| Hi KC.... I saw that report too.... if I remember correctly it is the South African Bushmen who eat this plant ..... tricks your brain into believing your full. It grows in the desert and They said the only problem is that it's almost extinct. Anyway I remember them saying that there's a legal thing going on with the patent and there are people who are trying to cultivate the plant outside of its natural habitat and others trying to reproduce Hoodia in the Lab (without success). They also said that although several weightloss products have Hoodia listed as an ingredient it's not enough to give you the same effect as the true natural/native version. It peaked my interest as well.... explains how the bushmen have survived over the ages in such extreme conditions like the desert and draught. Sorry Achilles I'm not familiar with Hydroxycut...
