Lightbulb Newbies: some snacks suggestions....

Hi! I thought I'd pass along a list of what I put in my food/snack bag for next week at work. Since I work for a vending/coffee company, I really can't eat what we sell, so I bring my own or have to try to find something in the drive-thrus!

I have used an insulated cooler with ice packs in the past, but now I have a plug-in cooler that can be used to keep food warm, too. It's small and just plugs into the power point in my van.

Anyway, this is just a list of what I've packed tonight to take with me in the morning:
veggies (celery and radishes)
sour cream dip (Hidden Valley Ranch dry mix and 16 oz. sour cream)
deviled eggs
Hunts No Sugar Added Pudding (chocolate, not for Induction)
CarbMaster yogurt (peach, Kroger's l/c brand)
"mock potato" cauli salad (leftovers)
Pepperoni
small Golden Delicious apples (not for Induction)

Eating the veggies dipped in the Ranch is the only way I can get veggies in while driving....I try to keep my salad eating at home!

Maybe some veterans can add some more ideas to this list.

Leftovers of last night's lowcarb meal are always good to take to work for lunch the next day.

I hope this helps someone who may be struggling for ideas of what to pack for lunch. If your company has a fridge for you to use, that's great!

one of my favorite quick snacks is sandwich meat. i put different things on it & roll it up. sometimes cheese, or mayonnaise. these "deli rolls" are very good for snacking on.

cheese cubes & sausage/pepperoni slices-- just be careful with summer sausages & watch for hidden sugars.

i also love love love pork rinds. i've found some kroger brand that aren't too salty. i make an awesome guacamole (avacado, sour cream, & a tiny bit of salsa) & i dip the pork rinds in the guacamole. yum!

string cheese. it's fun food! i love to play with my food!

nuts, seeds, berries (not allowed on induction)-- i love all macadamia nuts, cashews, peanuts, & pecans. when i had my desk job, i would get sunflower seeds still in the hull because these took so much effort to eat, and for me it's often mental hunger rather than actual hunger, so i'd grab a few sunflower seeds & stay occupied for awhile & not really eat all that much.

sliced cucumbers-- love them! they're crunchy & so good!

i love to snack. i don't eat much at mealtime, because i snack throughout the day.

Here's what's snack food for me today

a slice of turkey breast
string cheese (it is fun, isn't it!!)
cauliflower with ranch for dipping

at other times it might be:

hard boiled egg
cooked breakfast sausage
cream cheese rolled up in a slice of bacon
atkins shake NO BARS THOUGH!
a hunk of cheddar cheese
a slice of swiss, sometimes rolled up in a slice of turkey
a leftover meatball or two
celery stuffed with cream cheese
chicken breast strip ( I usually cook up a mess of them on sundays with low carb italian dressing as a marinade)

Maxibee you are brave to work for a vending company! Although, i will say that our vending machine at work at least has some low carb choices--salami or pepperoni sticks, sunflower seeds, peanuts, and pork rinds. I try not to spend my money in there but it is good to know I have some LC choices if I get in a bind. Just wish I didn't have to look at all the goodies every time I walk to the water cooler~

I usually make myself some celery with no sugar/low carb peanut butter. Also, I do like slices of cucumber with cream cheese on top. Plain cream cheese is good, but also like the flavored varities such as garlic & herb. Also, sometime have a l/c yogurt I weigh almonds (1 ounce) and then place one serving each of 1 ounce in zip lock baggies. (Not for induction) When on induction, it was usually lettuce leafs wrapped around a slice of turkey or low carb roast beef, a few olives (maybe 10) or a couple of deviled eggs. I usually try to package all my snacks a couple of times a week as with my career and four children, little time to get it all together in the mornings. Good luck! This a great forum with very helpful and knowledgable people who have been doing this WOL for a long period of time with good results.

I think my FAVORITE during induction was raw cauliflower and dip (I make my own with sour cream, a dash of dried minced garlic and about a TBS of dried dill.......YUMMY), also I did rolled ham slices with cream cheese mixed with green onion and budig beef, diced up....and sometimes chopped olives too. I also was having terrible sweet cravings and would do half a can of diet A&W rootbeeer with a splash of cream..........tasted like a rootbeer float. I've gotten away from a lot of snacking lately. My green tea, flavored with yummy s/f syrups seem to fit the bill now.
