I was wondering how Atkins affects someone with colitis. I have it, it's not too bad (I am not taking anything for it right now), but change of diet can often induce flare ups. Anyone with colitis (or knows of someone) who is on Atkins that can tell me what to expect?

I've personally never had a problem with intestinal disorders, but I've heard of it improving tremendously. Have you talked with your doctor about any wheat gluten intolerances? they have a test that can determine if you have allergies to wheat gluten or even Celiac disease. I believe it's an anti-body/blood test. You may have to be careful with the amount of fiber you intake..........talk to your doctor about that. But eventually, you should up your fiber amount, slowly and drink lots and lots of water with it.
