Hi there, John.
If you're interested in low-carb eating, recipes and a bit of silly banter, you've found the right place!

So...tell us a little about yourself.
Me...I started low-carb eating in October. I've lost 23 pounds so far. The weight is coming off slowly...very slowly...but it is coming off. Best of all, I don't feel like I'm on a "diet."

Hey there, John.
Don't sweat the boards. You'll get used to all the posting stuff soon enough and after you've made enough posts, you'll be an expert typist! LOL

Have you picked up a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? It's a good idea to read through what he has to say and go over the rules of induction and ongoing weight loss.

If you've not picked up the book, here is a good place to start:
http://atkins.com/Archive/2001/12/15-325810.html

Most folks here would suggest IGNORING the Atkins site's push of it's food products. Many have found that the bars, and maybe, shakes have caused a weight stall. I recently gave up the shakes to see if I can get my weight to start moving again. After a couple weeks of regular losses, I might add them back in to see if I stall again. I've mostly given up the bars, but may allow myself to endulge once a month and even then, I count the carbs in the sugar alcohols.

Most of us here agree that the rest of the Atkins food products taste horrible! Don't even try the pancake syrup. I tried it once and threw it away because it was so nasty.

Stick with real foods: veggies, meat, veggies, cheese, veggies, nuts and, after induction, berrries. Oh...and don't forget the veggies.

Hi again,
Yes ,Idid buy both Essentials and new diet rev,and managed to "speedread" thru both .
The first time i tried induction i made it thru 2 wks but the menu was too limited and i was quickly bored. For the past few wks i have been researching and starting to stock up on the essentials. Also been "practicing" and experimenting with some of the many new recipes i've found.

welcome, john! i'm so glad to hear you say you already have the book. saves me the trouble of telling you that! it sounds like you have a good approach, and taking that time to prepare and research is going to make all the difference for you. at least, it did for me!
