Default Will there be pain??

Ok, I was reading some of the posts in the AOWL forum and s/o posted (in a reply) about a "carb headache". What is it, when is it likely strike? Is it kinda like if an ex smoker has a cigarette? That kind of ick I feel sick and I want to lay down and never see the light of day again? Or is it the more intense coffee drinker who can't get a coffee on a sunday morning because *someone* forgot to buy filters and the stores don't open until noon in her small little town of 500 ppl kind of headache?

Does it tend to arrive with it's entourage of drumming and banging and trhrobbing a few hours after eating alot of carbs? or does it lie in wait until morning, like the ultimate nastiness that is the cigarette headache? (I quit smoking only recently and had a slip afew weeks ago, ick!)

I know it seems like a strange question but if I can equate pain, beyond just weight gain, to having a carby "treat" it may be easier to stay away once I am done induction.

Well I think everyone's carb withdrawel is a little different, but mine was a massive headache like when I don't get my daily caffeine fix in, (who knows, maybe my headache was a caffeine withdrawel since I did cut out my daily java consumption during induction).

Not everybody experiences headache from a carby "treat". I sometimes have an upset stomach and or acid indigestion. And of course the scale either doesn't move or it moves up.

I'm a headache person. Mine are usually caused by stress or lack of sleep.

However,l I don't recall any unusual headaches during induction. Nor did I suffer from a carb headach a couple weeks ago when I had my slip, a highly carb-packed Mexican food combination plate.

i've never had a headache from eating too many carbs. it makes me feel bloated and sick to my stomach. too many carbs also make me feel sluggish and kind of hung over, and after eating lc awhile, tends to make one "gassy." your body stops producing as many of the enzymes that process carbs, as i understand it.

also found after i had been eating low-carb a while, if i overeat much at all, i get a stomachace.

When I fell off the lowcarb wagon during the holidays, I began to experience extremely painful heartburn, usually in the middle of the night, at least twice a week. I didn't equate that with over-consumption of sugar until after I went back to low carb in January.

End of sugar (and other problem carbs) = End of heartburn. Nuff said.

That's great guys thanks! I already have gastro problems, 2 ulcers and susceptible to Heart Burn. I was told to increase my protien (nothing was said about carbs tho), give those stomach acids something tougher to work at and they might leave my stomach lining alone!

libaki - my induction withdrawls were horrid! Headachy and grouchy and sweaty! yuck! It was well worth it but I do not want to go through that again!

Nadia, I had horrendous headaches in the beginning, which I believe was a de-toxing process. Then they miraculously got better. I have slowly added back LC bread-type products and lo-and -behold.......I get headaches from them. I also used to suffer from endless heartburn. That is now a distant memory!!!!! So I don't do much LC breadstuff anymore. I think too, that I get headaches from dehydration. So drink your water!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the boards!!!!
