| ok... I had lost three pounds... I was down to 134 (my goal is 120) yesterday I drank about 5 Liters of water. Then this morning when I weighed I was at 135/136. Could this be water weight? I havn't eaten anything forbidden. I am on day 6 of induction so I have been very careful. Could 5 liters of water put two pounds of water weight on me... cause I feel like I am loosing weight but the scales say otherwise. Is it possible to loose inches instead of pounds? I hope all the water doesn't hinder me... maybe I'm drinking too much. Please help! Leanne |

| Leanne, Ok, first, it's normal for the scale to jump around a bit, because of variations in hormones, water retention from sodium, elimination, etc. Don't let the scale be your only way of measuring your progress. A much better method is to measure yourself. It is entirely possible to lose inches while staying the same weight or even gaining pounds...if you have added protein to your diet, or begun exercising, you may be adding muscle, which weighs more than fat but is more compact. Therefore, you could weigh the same, or even more, but be slimmer. Second, water will absolutely NOT hinder you; in fact, it is vital for good health and the success of your weight loss. Most of us find that we lose more when we drink at least a gallon a day, so 5 liters is not really excessive. Know, too, that since you only plan on losing 20 pounds, you are not going to lose it as quickly as someone with a lot to lose. Think of it this way, you're already a third of the way there...good progress, I'd say.

| I'm sorry... I am clueless about amounts... how many liters are there in a gallon. how many ounces. If I need to drink half my weight in ounces everyday then I need about 67 ounces. I know I am getting more than that. Fluid ounces... is that the same as regular ounces... just liquid. I am so new to this! Leanne |

| You are probably drinking about 100 ounces more than you need. (FYI, there are about 33 ounces in a liter.) Here's a link to a handy on-line conversion tool: http://www.onlineconversion.com/volume.htm HTH!

| Personally, I think everyone should drink at least 100 oz. of water a day REGARDLESS of weight. If you're at, or near goal, 100 is probably fine. If you're very heavy, then 128 (a gallon) or even a little more is better. But, since you're almost at goal, I would shoot or 100 oz. a day. For you, there really is no need to drink more than that because you don't have much weight left to lose. And yes, you can certainly lose inches instead of "weight" but, only 6 days in, I don't think that's what it is. I just think you're looking at normal daily fluctuations. So, like Rob said, don't weigh yourself too often. These NORMAL fluctuations can be VERY frustrating so just get on the scale 1 time per week. Even every other week if you can. Good luck
