| Hi all... Started Atkins one month ago... and now still on Induction though I snack on berries and nuts once or twice every week. I am still comfortable with the food I am eating and I think I still have lots of unwanted weights with me. Still having home-cooked meals everyday. Try to dine out once but it didn't work. In my country, think its very tough to LC if you don't eat at home. I wonder if you will be surprised at the food I am eating. Boring I would say. This morning.. I had 2 soft boiled eggs, 4 pieces of bacons and a cup of coffee. ( i had SweetNLow with me but I didn't add). Will be having fish head soup for lunch, with bakchoy throw in. Dinner would be plain boil duck, half a duck exactly. A typical lunch would be pork ribs.. plain boiled too. dip with mayo.. or tartar ( Home made...... add pickles to the mayo). Snacks are usually made up of cheese and ham. However, just yesterday.. I found a new kind of snack. I like to ask for opinions here too. Roasted seaweed. Nothing added. I read the label. No sugar and all the carb are fiber.... You folks think its fine???

| I would think the seaweed would be a pretty good and nutritious snack. If they are very salty, they might slow weightloss, though (due to retaining more body fluid). I checked a couple of different varieties of seaweed in the food database I have on my PC. Most kinds of fresh seaweed listed there ran about 2 g. net carbs per ounce. Your diet doesn't look boring to me, but it's a good idea to seek out new foods and recipes if you start getting bored. Actually, that's one of the things that has been a real joy to me following this way of eating - the discovery of new foods and finding new uses for familiar foods. I found a new snack recently, too - toasted soy nuts. They are high in protein and fiber, while being low in carbs. They certainly are not as tasty as peanuts; but even so, they are a nice little crunchy finger food.

| try to add more veggies! bacon is great for induction, because it helps get you through, but you'll want to move away from processed meats as you get further into the diet: they are unhealthy and should be eaten only occassionally. I give you a big thumbs up for cooking at home: there's nothing like it. You control added salt, sugar, fats, and tend to eat less. It's very exciting to see people moving away from the "convenience" mentality and towards the "making health whole food" mentality. I also eat toasted soy nut from time to time; my problem is that they are so salty they make me retain water, and since I LOVE salty things, I tend to overdo them. ah, once a food addict... |
