Default Help!!! South Beach Not Working!!! Help!!!!!

Hi. I am new here and new to the south beach diet. I don't really have too much to lose just 10 pounds but I am really frustrated though I have been on the south beach diet for one week now and lost 0 pounds and inches (well at least around my waist where i need it the most). I don't know why i haven't lost anything. I drink alot of water about 8-10 glasses a day. I have 20grams of carbs a day and have been counting my calories too which is pretty low about 1000 to 1200 a day. I take fiber pills with each meal which have stopped me from being so hungery. I am hardly ever hungery though i have to force myself to eat because i know i have to have a minimum amount of calories. This is what i eat peanuts but i count them so i don't eat too much, chicken, salad with low carb low calorie dressing, cheese, low carb sweets sometimes, lots of green tea, eggs, veggies like cucumbers, celery etc and low carb protein drink. I go on a two hour walk a day and lift weights so i don't know what i am doing wrong? Can Anyone Please Help ME!!!!

Did you put the 10 pounds on in one week? If not why would you expect them to come off in one week. You have to give any diet time. You sound like a lot of other newbie posts here lately. Hmmm, Maybe it's a trend. Goodluck with your diet.

sugarsassy...give it time...with only 10 lbs to lose it is not going to come off fast...this is a healthy way to eat...you may be eating too few calories...somewhere up around 1400-1500 would be healthier...somewhere around 1,000 you body stops burning calories and starts saving them...called starvation mode...and you are coming dangerously close to hitting that point between 1000 and 1200 cals a day. One thing that you can ditch totally and which may keep you from losing at all is the LC sweets...sugar alcohols must be counted...as many process them just like sugar, I don't...but I have other side effects from then that are less pleasant but I still count them if I eat them. skip the low calorie dressing go for the full fat regular dressing naturally low in carbs like Ranch or Blue Cheese-include protein at each meal just like the veggies...make sure you carbs are coming from mostly veggies and keep going at this WOE...YOu didn't gain the extra weight in a week so don't expect it to fall off miraculously in a week either.

I think you will see great results from continuing just as you are doing. I'm not sure what low carb sweets you are eating, but those can be big deceivers. Some of the LC products seem innocent; but there are many LC products that advertize low net carbs - yet they've caused many people to experience stalled weight loss.

The one thing you might consider is to switch to high fiber foods rather than pills, but that's an individual thing. Many veggies are high fiber, and so is flaxseed. Ground up flaxseeds make nice pancakes and muffins; or, combined with other ingredients, it makes a great hot cereal.

I would bet that you will feel vibrant and energized, as time goes on. What many of us have observed is that the last 10 to 15 lbs come off relatively slowly. So, (and I know it's hard) try to be patient, and keep on doing those things that are great for your body: eat well, drink well, and stay active!

Thanks for all of the advice and encouragement! I was thinking that i am probably not eating enough calories as well. But anyways i was looking at some of the ingredients on these so called "low carb cookies" i bought. Though it says it has only 4 carbs of sugar per cookie it says in the ingredients enriched flour and rolled oats so it doesn't seem to be the right kind of carbs i should be getting. That could be one reason too. I feel so stupid. I should def look more closely at everything i buy.
