    Default Am I crazy?

Ok, I am 5'9" 165. I want to loose 10lbs or so to get back to my ideal weight. I have been on the diet going on 3 weeks now with very little weight loss, maybe 3-4lbs. The odd thing is that I "feel" so much thinner. My clothes fit better. Old pants are revisisted with great success and I look thinner. Is this just an illusion or am dreaming? Whats going on here?

I don't think you are dreaming as I have experienced the very same. I was feeling thinner for a couple of weeks, but the scale did not agree. In the last 10 days, I dropped 5 lbs and feel about the same. That;s why it's a good thing to take measurements. Go figure!

If you are excercising, that would account for it... you would be building muscle, and muscle is heavier then fat... when muscle replaces fat, you lose inches, but not weight... hang in there, its gona get better.

    Welcome, Baltimore.

One of the likely possiblities is that by changing to a low carb style of eating, you are perhaps getting more protein than previously and, thus, are increasing your muscle mass a bit. Muscle does weigh more, cubic inch for cubic inch, than fat does. If you shift that ratio, you'll BE smaller, without weighing a lot less.

Hope you'll make yourself at home here.

In addition to all of the above...if you don't have a lot to lose, it just simply takes a bit longer. As some of the folks can attest to here...10-15 lbs from goal and the going is s...l...o...w...
    Hang in there...

    Default Keep in mind...

...that 3-4 lbs. in three weeks is an average of better than a pound per week. That's a substantial and appropriate rate of loss for any program, so it sounds like you're doing just fine.

i've found personally, i can "feel" losses before they show up on the scale; plus, depending on lots of factors, there are muscles that were mention by others.

thing is, you only have a few pounds to lose; you'll have to be patient. it will happen gradually. if you feel good and are looking good, then you're DOING good. really.
