Default Moving On

I have just completed 14 days of Induction and I love it. I know DANDR suggests that you can stay on Induction longer, especially if the menu and food options do not bore you. I would appreiciate some advice from the experts on these forums as to when they think I should move on.

I started of on 154 pounds and I am now down to 146 (woot). My goal is 125 pounds.

Let's see. You lost 8 pounds on Induction. That's great! Congratulations! Moving on to OWL is recommended by Dr. Atkins, if you are not metabolically resistant. And I would say an 8 pound loss shows you are NOT metabolically resistant. So I would urge you to move on to OWL. If you are hesitant, try adding just 3 carbs per day for a week. Also please note your weight loss will probably slow down a little. That is normal and encouraged. It is also important to follow Dr. Atkins recommendations of adding just ONE new food per week to see how your ody reacts to it. I believe one of the additions he lists is cottage cheese.

Also note you only have 20 more pounds to lose. That may go slowly, but that's good! The biggest plus of OWL, besides finding your critical carb level, is adding foods so this way of eating becomes a lifetime eating habit. Your voyage during OWL will be one of discovery -- how your particular body reacts with different types of foods and calorie levels. It's exciting!

Keep a log, keep track, keep on target! Good luck and please post often and let us know how you are doing.

PS -- my most favorite way of eating cottage cheese is with a sprinkle of plain cinnamon with a little splenda mixed in. This makes a great sweet treat.

Thanks for your advice, I am looking forward to moving on! I think I will do what you suggest and add an extra 3 carbs for a week and see how I get on. I love vegetables so I will be adding more of them, and maybe some more cheese to, I will follow the ladder of foods to add in order. I cannot wait to get to the strawberries, fruit it the ONLY thing I miss believe it or not.

I use FitDay religiously, I have a PDA which is connected to a wireless network at work so I can update my food intake during the day.

Ditto KC. Excellent advice.

My only addition would be to say that I don't think you need to wait to add strawberries. They are VERY low carb as far as fruit goes and I don't see how 5-6 carbs of berries 1-2 times a week will give you problems.

Like KC said, it's all about turning it into a lifestyle and the sooner you add a larger variety of satisfying foods, the sooner you'll be able to do that.

Good luck
