| Hi all, I am new to the forum but have been reading for days. I am two months in but hit a stall. I think it was sugar alcohol, I started eating these things for snacks thinking the net carb thing was good. I hope that was the case. My question is, how should I count liquid Sucralose. It says 0 carbs on the label. I will drink a glass of "Diet Rite" with lunch or dinner and never know if I should count it or not. Since I stalled I have been counting it but I don't really know for sure. Thanks |

| Welcome, VMS. Unlike sugar alcohols, and unlike pourable or packet Splenda (which have additives that add a small amount of carbohydrate) liquid sucralose is truly a zero carb ingredient. However, when it's part of another product, there may be other ingredients which do have some trace carbs. I'm not familiar with Diet Rite (don't do much soda), but if it has a carb count per serving, then you should certainly count it. HTH.

| Hi VMSguy, Welcome to LCE If you are talking about liquid splenda(sucralose) like the kind you can only order online, it has a 0 (zero) carb count. Diet Rite Cola which as I understand, uses liquid sucralose, and it is one of the few diet colas that truly have no carbs. I'm sorry to say that I fell *victim* to those sugar alcohols at one time myself. Everyone does react differently, but if you even suspect them, I would delete them out of your food plan for a while and see if you start losing again. HTH Shelley

| Ditto. The sugar alcohols were surely to blame. It's amazing all the hype about these products aimed at low carbers when the fact is, IF a low carber actually includes a selection of these products in their daily menu plan they will surely NOT LOSE WEIGHT! It's so irritating. I think most diet sodas are 0 carb or only have 1-2 per can.

| As a corrollary, I quit the sugar alcohols about two days before posting the question. I went on a four day induction diet then returned to OWL with no sugar alcohols. My ketosis returned (though trace as it always is) and weight loss has started again. For me, the sugar alcohols were carbs and I was taking in many more carbs than I realized. Thanks for all your encouragement. |

| Excellent news! Yes, those darn SA's are VERY trouble-making for so many people. It really makes me mad when I see commercials and packaging talking about the "low carb" chocolates, etc. They really AREN'T that low carb but people don't realize it until they have a problem with them. Glad everything is working well now
