    Default Measuring Myself

I am 5'8" and weigh 257 (down from 275). I wear size 24 jeans and (from past experience) am about 10 lbs from being in my 22's.

Anyway, I've never measured myself, but thought I would the other day. I kept getting 48" around my waist. The Levis size chart reads 45" for size 24. That really puzzled me. I was complaining to a friend whose lost 75 lbs and she just grabbed the tape measure and measured me. I didn't tell her any of the numbers, though. She said, "I get 45"." I had her measure me 3 times.

So my question is....why was I a whopping 3" off?

Did you measure in the same place she did?

I've found I get bigger numbers measuring myself than if my hubby does it...I chalk it up to the contortion or the "bending over" factor

to you on measuring though....wish I had when I started instead of only a few weeks ago! You'll see change there when you don't see it on the scale.

I find the same thing...it is at least in part due to the bending and twisting you have to do to get a good reading.

i've never had anybody else measure me before.

hmmmm. now i can think to myself, "well, these are MY measurements, but the real ones that somebody else would have gotten for me are lower."

Oddly when I measured myself I found my waist was 3" bigger than my pants size. I wonder if the error is fairly consistent when you measure yourself. I am a guy but the process is basically the same, only our pant sizes make more sense The guy at my clothing shop measures my waist and gets my pants size everytime. Go figure.

It sure is...and yeah...I really think it comes from the bending and all the contortions we go to simply to measure ourselves. can't explain it any otehr way.
