Question unsweetened cranberries, where to get these?

I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get unsweetened cranberries. I think I read somewhere that this is the lowest net carb in the berries familia?

Everywhere I go, I only find sweetened version, including trader joe's

My city got both Trader Joe's and Wild Oats I consider myself lucky compared to most

Is cranberry okay in the induction?

Another thing is, I read in diff places that ECC of walnuts are quite a bit, but the diff brands of walnuts that I've bought all got equivalent amount of carb and fiber, shouldnt that means ECC = 0 ?

Thank you in advance

One ounce of walnuts (about 14 halves) has 3.89 gms of carbohydrate and 1.9 gms of fiber. That's a net carb count, or ECC of 2.

As for cranberries, I buy them fresh when they're in season. All supermarkets carry them from about October through January. Then I freeze them myself. They freeze very well. I'm not sure how else to buy them, but I'm sure someone else will know.

1/2 cup of cranberries has 5.79 gms of carbs and 2.2 gms of fiber. That's about 3.6 gms net per half cup.

HTH.

Hi

Cranberries are not OK on induction, you should have no fruit at all for the first two weeks, or nuts.

Very true! I think we're assuming that you're following the Atkins Nutritional Approach, since you use the term "induction."

Whatever program you're following, you should consult the book to see which foods are acceptable at what phase of your eating plan.

I'm actually not in any program at all. I just want to get into ketosis and havent had luck so far. I have been doing under 20 net carb (only subtracting the fiber, nothing else). I get light pink on lucky days, then kicked out again :(

But, I didnt know splenda packets has carb. And I have trusted the nutrition facts label, shouldn't I? I have counted 0 carb for my walnuts cause the 3 different brands that I bought all had 3gr carb and 3gr fiber per 1/4cup.

I really didnt know all the small little carbs hiding everywhere.

Also, I have 3 diff cocoa powder with 1gr net carb per Tbsp, can I trust them?
Hershey's Dark Cocoa 3gr carb 2gr fiber
Ghirardelli cocoa 3gr carb 2gr fiber
Premium cocoa 3gr carb 2gr fiber

I'm a chocoholic and dessertaholic (is there such term?)

Thank you

Hi D2, I use cocoa powder ALL the time!!!! It truly has 1 net carb. I add it to anything I can to get my chocolate fix.

Cranberries would be better to wait after induction. But after that, go for it. They are VERY healthy fruits. I buy them in the bag at the store in the produce section, but as Maggie stated, they might be out of season part of the year. TJ's would have them unsweetened I would think. Do you have a Whole Foods in your area, they might be a good source for frozen unsweetened ones too.

I make a kick-butt version of cranberry sauce around thanksgiving:
about 2 cups of whole, unsweetened berries.........boiled until floating and bursting.
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of splenda
orange zest and about two TBS. orange juice, fresh squeezed
2 TSP. cinnamon
Blend it all up with a blender after the berries have cooled.
I would suggest you dissolve a packet of knox gelatin in a quarter cup of boiled water too and add that to thicken it up. It's oh so yummy!!!!!!!
