Talking new to this site

Finally with help from friend I was able to post to this site. I have been on atkins since dec 26 starting at 229 and now at 193. I have been stuck here for awhile. The scales aren't moving but the inches are so I don't care if I weigh 200 and I can wear size 14 who am I to fuss lol. I just wanted to say hey to all and look forward to getting advice from all of you guys.

welcome, debbie. it's wonderful to hear that you're counting your "non-scale" progress as well as the pounds, which is so important! sometimes we forget the scale reading is just one way to measure progress, not the real progress.

if you find things don't keep moving in a direction you're happy with, be sure to come back and post some menus here. the people round here are absolutely fab at finding sneaky little stallers in your menus...

best of luck to you!

Thanks for the welcome. I have been having a hard time drinking all the water I should and I think that is one of my problems and another is I don't eat enough. I am trying real hard but I just don't get hungry.

breakfast bacon three slices and two boiled eggs
lunch salad with just lettuce tomatoe and cucumber
dinner I think going to have hamburger patty melt

Welcome Debbie! With the water thing...it does get easier but you do have to force it for a while until you get used to drinking it...say 10-12 oz every hour and a half or two. Eating...try snacking now and again...you should never go more than 4 hours without eating something...

debbie- it's certainly a gradual process, but it's clear you're moving in the right direction and gradually changing your habits. which is exactly what you need to do to lose and KEEP OFF the weight!

Glad you made it Debbie! I agree with you. It sure doesn't look like you're eating enough. You can probably add a snack or even 2 and get your calories up a bit. and lots of veggies with dinner I hope. Nuts are a real easy way to increase calories (at 170 calories an ounce for almonds for instance).

Welcome Debbie!!!!

I agree, you aren't eating enough actually. If your body thinks it's starving, it will not give up the fat!!!!! Add a snack or two and Gosh Darn it, eat MORE veggies!!!! Don't be afraid of veggies!!!!! No one got fat eating low cal, low fat, watery veggies. They are freebies in my book!!!! Don't worry about going over 20 carbs with veggies. Snack on raw ones, have steamed ones with dinner, add them to omelets for breaky!!!! Go nuts on them. Tomatoes, on the other hand should be used VERY sparingly. They are naturally high in sugars, so go easy with those. A few won't hurt, but be careful with them. And don't forget to subtract the fiber from you actual carb count. Fiber doesn't impact insulin levels, so they don't count.

Are you eating any of the LC (evil) bars???? LC icecream, or any of those other LC frankenfoods? If you are, stop them immediately and see if things change. If not, you need to eat more healthy, real food.

By all means, go by the tape measure more than the scale. The scale is a cheat and a liar.

Thanks for the welcome. I am determined to get to 135 and not going to give up. I am doing better with the water today and going to work on the veggies. I just stay so busy I forget to eat sometime. I am keeping brocolli in the fridge to snack on with the low carb ranch. I was bad last night though lol. We went to circus and I couldn't resist few bites of cotton candy. I got right back on diet this morning though and working to get rid of the dreaded sugar. I can sure tell it is in me cause I am sluggish and just plain lazy today.

WOW, cotton candy!!! I'm glad I have NEVER liked that stuff. ick. When you go to places like that, take a little ziplock of almonds or something like that that you can have instead. You really have to change your mindset that you DON'T eat that kind of thing anymore. And if you go prepared, you will be able to side-step it.
