| Calories do count...but you should be eating more around 1500 a day and concentrating on making every one count...eat protein, fat and vegetable carbs with only 20 lbs about to lose you aren't going to have an easy time losing without extra exercise and careful watcching of all the areas of the way of eating you may not lose much at all...eat until satisfied basically means to eat until you are not hungry anymore...but not til stuffed to the gills!

| lulu- from what you've said elsewhere, i would STRONGLY recommend that you actually FOLLOW the atkins plan, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. that way, there is some chance of your having success with it. by ignoring the plan on weekends, you are making sure that you will continue the difficult process you describe. "eating until satisfied" means eating on-plan foods until you are no longer experiencing the sensation of phsycial hunger. i'm not sure where there is room for confusion in that concept. if you do NOT follow the plan (including weekends), it will NOT work for you. that means it will NOT somehow magically eliminate your cravings when you continue to regularly eat the carby and sugary foods that create the cravings to begin with. you won't lose weight if you eat off-plan every weekend. please try actually following the plan for a couple of weeks before asking for further advice as to why it's not working. currently, it's not working because you're not following it, by your account. best of luck to you regardless of your choices. |

| Lulu -- Maybe your body is telling you that it doesn't need to lose anymore weight. At 165 cm and 55 Kg, you have a BMI of 20 which is very healthy. At a weight of 47 Kg, you would have a very low BMI of 17. Last edited by QueenBee; 04-26-2005 at 03:35 AM. Reason: Want to change unhealthy to low |

| Queen Bee is correct, lulu. At 5'4 inches, 121 lbs is considered a healthy BMI. 5'4 inches and 103 lbs is considered to be underweight. I suspect you'll have a hard time reaching a below normal goal weight on any low carb diet. Low carb diets are designed to normalize weight. They're not terribly effective at getting you to be lower than a healthy weight range.

| Lulu, if you are a model, a much better way to look good for the camera would be muscle development. Muscle is beautiful on women as well as men. You won't get "bulky" and you will look very healthy and slender. You might weigh more, but since muscle is more compact than fat, you will look good. Please investigate a fitness program that involves weight training. Professional advice would be helpful. Starvation is definitely NOT a good idea. |

| Maybe what you need is to work out with something like pilates or an isotonic type workout that changes the way you body look. It might be worth a try. Good luck |

| This is definitely a problem in Asia. I'm considered small here in USA, but going back home for holiday, I was considered obese in my country. Literally everyone I met was commenting: politely = "ou, you've grown really big" straightforward = "OMG, you're so fat now". Even everyone in my family was pushing me to lose weight. I've gained 30Lbs coming to this country, current stat: 5' 0" 120Lbs Lulu, what they said was right. muscles do look good. Lift some weights, muscles burn more calories. |
