Hi guys: I hope one of you experts can help. I want to add Fiber to my diet, but how much should I add. And what kinds are good? (I really would like to take it in tablet form.) Also, I read that during induction we should avoid caffine. But, i get headaches, and my Excedrin contains caffine. The eight glasses of water a day...how big? 8 oz.? And, can I add lemon? (I really don't like drinking water. I will, but it makes me queasy for some reason.) Any fave snacks or lunch items? Thanks, Ladies. I know that is a lot to ask at once, but I REALLY want to do things right! Missid

I think that the sugar free metamucil is OK. I try to get my fiber from veggies. So can't help you much on that one. Caffine is one of those things that effect some people and not others. If you need the excedrin migraine, take it. Any problems from the caffine are probably going to be better than a headache. Just pay attention and see if it kicks of cravings. At least 8 8 oz glasses, I'd recommend more. I usually drink a minimum of 80 oz a day. Yes, lemon is fine, just remember that lemon does have some carbs and make sure you count them. I always eat a salad for lunch, just becuase it's easy and I like them. Some grocerys have 1/4 rotesserie chickens (check the labels). Snacks - deviled eggs are great, string cheese or cheddar cubes, slices of turkey or ham.

missi- welcome. fyi, i took the 2nd thread out on ongoing weight loss, as your discussion fits in best over here in the newbies forum. on your fiber, most of it will probably come in the form of vegetables. some people take fiber supps in addition, but i would personally see if i needed it after starting. some also add some flaxseed to some of their cooking. people also handle the caffeine admonition differently. so like much, this is a personal, your mileage may vary kind of thing. the 8 glasses of water are 8oz, yeah. actually, what is most commonly suggested here is 1/2 your body weight in oz. of water. it takes a while to work up, though. so just do what you can and keep working up. i don't see where adding a little lemon would hurt, although after you drink your water awhile, you do develop a taste for it. really. really though, the one and only biggest thing you can do to ensure your success: get the book and read it. getting informed does pay, and the book is your roadmap to success. i sometimes point out that i have low-carbed two times. the first time, it was sans book. i lasted two weeks and lost 12 pounds. not bad, but... well, this time i bought the book, read it cover to cover, and i've been going over a year now. i've lost 108 pounds. which sounds better to you? good luck, missi.
