Cool need help

Ok I am lost I read the book, Ive read tons on the Atkins website and been reading the forums on here daily. Atkins shakes are they ok in induction???
My turkey meat I bought has 1 carb but also has sugar so its not ok for induction right? Is the walmart deli turkey ok? Im finding my first week of induction I completely messed up as there is sugar in a bunch of the stuff I bought and thought was natural like the cheese I had to go buy different kinds. I also went and bought the expensive Atkins bars on my 2nd week and then found out they cause weight gain. I crave sweets quite often yet any suggestions can I have sugar free jello? The whipped cream I bought has sugar in it too what brands of that do I need to look for that have no sugar. Im eating 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast a string cheese and then a salad and 1 carb no sugar salad dressing and tuna for lunch and a piece of cheese then I eat salmon and cauliflower for supper and then a shake if I have to about 8pm. Im not taking in a lot of carbs but eat a can of tuna if I get hungry in between or another egg I also vary this with ground turkey and other things. I am drinking 1 1/2 liters of water a day. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful I feel like Im constantly having to start over and there is so many different views on what you can and cant Im trying to stay with the natural stuff except the shake. Thanks for the help Im sure I will be writing more as I go as this is all new.

Welcome, Debra.

OK, in order:

Shakes: ok for induction. They have no suspect ingredients.

Turkey: Like all deli meats, some have more sugar added than others. Check the label and count the carbs. The worst problem with them is the sodium, it might make you retain water and mask weight loss on the scale, but it's not fat and it will wash itself out with good hydration.

Cheese: Yup. Read the label. The best bets are natural cheeses and not processed "cheese food."

Bars: Save them for later and then be cautious. They have lots of "suspect ingredients" and many of us find that they elevate blood sugar and cause stalls.

Sugar Free Jello: Totally legal. If you have issues with aspartame, check our recipe section for a delicious version made with splenda.

Whipped cream: Buy heavy cream and whip it yourself with splenda. This way you know what's in it.

Finally, you're not "starting over." You're doing fine. The learning curve is steep, but only in the very beginning. Most of this will be second nature to you before you know it.

Hope you'll make yourself at home!

Welcome Debra! As you are learning, added sugar can lurk in a lot of foods! But you sound like you are getting a good handle on low carb. You did not mention how your fared your first week. Did you lose any weight? Are your cravings diminished? Do you have more energy?

When I first started LC, I was very much into quick foods - pre-packaged, easy and fast. It took a few weeks to learn to go natural but after that it was easy. Deli meats can be a problem. Ask them to check the lable. Better yet, ask to see the label and read it yourself! Tell them you're a diabetic and CANNOT eat any sugar.

Please visit often! You will find this site a fantastic resource for advice and encouragement. Good luck!

Welcome Debra. I ditto what Maggie said!!! Hang in there, you'll get it figured out. I would just like to add..............eat more allowed vegetabels!!!! LCing comes down to making a lot of your own stuff in order to control hidden junk food manufacturers like to flavor-up foods with to make them more palatable. Check out the recipe section up top here and check out the cooking forum too!!! Ideas shared by all here are what helped get me through the tough times. Also, there are TONS of recipe books out on the market now. You can't live without one!!!!

Again, WELCOME!!!!!
