Talking Pickles

Weeeeeeellll, i went to costco this AM an spotted the kosher style dill halves with the note on front that read - 1gcarb 5 calories. ummmmmmmm not bad and the nutrition facts serving size about 1/2 pickle...this taste good already soooooooo i bought it---1- 2 quart jar. i have now consumed 4 1/2 pickles----NOW out of boardm at work i continue (hours later) to read the fine print on the nutrition facts- serving size: about 1/2 pickle half (28g) (ut-oh) servings per container: about 39 (oh my) WHEN i look into my pickle jar I see 10 1/2 pickles left - i ate 4 1/2's that totals 14 1/2 pickles----they say 1/2 pickle half - this DOES NOT compute to 39 servings, only 28........something smells funny here other then my pickles. I re-started induction on Monday after a lull of too much time, now i'm extremely thirsty and a bit irritated that i didn't take more time to read the label before i inserted the pickle! How bad is this other then the bad soduim content(270 mg per 1/2 pickle half)? on atkins- i haven't read my book in a while. Thanks

Cindy

it may well be that they sell the pickles by weight instead of by piece. that's usually how food is sold.

the sodium content, though, may well make you retain water for a while. just like anything else, a few too many pickles probably ain't gonna do you in. just be aware.

Yours is pickles, mine is Italian Sausage! What Goddess says applies to both. Too much sodium will probably kick you up a # or two, but it will go away in a few days. Those pesky labels can be tough sometimes. I can't tell you how many times I have entered a food label in Diet Power only to have it spit a message at me saying the nutritional analysis doesn't compute!

I agree, the sodium alone will probably cause you some bloat and water retention, but drinking extra water should flush it out of your system. It's not like it's going to make your body suddenly put on fat pounds. I LOVE a GOOD pickle!!! Clausen's are my absolute FAVES!!!!
