Smile Introduction

hi all,
I'm a stay at home mother of 4, with our most recent just turning 4 months and still nurses. this last pregnancy i reached an all time high of 201! now i'm down to 171 and going strong. i did hit 169 last weekend and went out dancing with my husband for the 1st time since the baby. i drank rum & diet coke but failed miserably and put on 2 lbs. not to mention i felt sluggish and bloated for 2 days. we have our couples vacation (no kids) this summer and i'd like to get back in shape. i exercise 5-6 days a week and plan to stay in the induction pahse until i hit about 150 (140 is my goal, since i'm 5'4). i look forward to learning from all.
thanks

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you are doing great. Just a word of caution...many people have found that staying at induction levels can be counterproductive, causing your weight loss to stall. Besides, you can eat more interesting types of food if you leave induction, which can keep you from getting bored.

Welcome! This is a great place to be. Sounds like you've done well. You deserve a night out of dancing. Sounds like fun. The rum probably caused that bloat. It may be no carb but the alcohol still brings on the bloat. Good news is it won;t stay around long if you up your water and stay on track.

One thing that concerns me is that you are still nursing a 4 month old and doing the induction phase. Atkins (I'm assuming Atkins since you used the word induction) recommends against this. You might want to check with your doctor on this as well. I hate to see your progress slow but you may not be getting the nutrients your body and the baby needs. I know it's tough. I have plenty to lose and had to wait a couple months after making the low carb decision before I could start because I was still breastfeeding.

i appreciate your concerns regarding induction and breastfeeding. i am also a member of a support group for LC who are either trying to concieve, pregnant, or nursing. while induction is a jolt for most, given my level of fitness and my lefestyle before the baby, induction is actually not too bad for me. i check my strips and i'm never past "moderate". my doctor is a "old school" doc. when i came to him he gave me the old saying of more out than in. well thats good for most but given my exagerrated reaction to sugar and carbs i beleive there is a clear and medical link. it just hasn't been accepted by the entire medical community. which is really sad given the current state of the people in this country.

Welcome to the boards!! I too am a new mommy to an almost 5 month old...and have lost my baby fat and looking beyond now. I applaud you for being a SAHM to 4 kids!! I can't imagine...I can't get anything done when I'm home alone with Elana.
