| First of all I woke up an hour late and got late to work. I didn?t feel like having eggs for breakfast so I ate a slice of cheese and of turkey breast. The morning was Ok; I had a healthy lunch (veggies and chicken). After that and the rest of the day I started feeling grouchy and with lots of anxiety, I couldn?t stay in a place and was craving SOOO much for sweets and all of the prohibited in Atkins. Right after work I almost went and buy a cake and ice cream but I contained myself and drag to the gym thinking this would make me better. I was only able to do 20 minutes of bicycle and that was it! I couldn?t breathe very well after that, so I decided to go home. Then I made a stop in a grocery store to buy celery ,I think is high in fever and I haven?t been so good of my stomach since this diet, so I thought it might help. And in the grocery store, you know how all the BAD things pop to your eyes? I manage to get out of there with celery and the only thing bad is I got a 200 gram bag of PEANUTS. It say in the bag to have only 2 carbs witch 2 of them were fiber, so I thought ok, that is Cero Net Carb. Then got home and ate the whole bag in one sitting. I feel is going to be so difficult to continue the diet if I continue like this and can get worst. After that is like if someone put me in a race to eat I was hungry and wanted more, so I ate more veggies, chicken, cream , cheese, and even I fixed myself some shrimp with butter. That?s it for the day, but I must tell you, I didn?t had a headache today till after I ate all that. I am not sure how many carbs I had for today, maybe 20, maybe 30? Because of the cheese? And of course all that must be lots of calories! The good think is even I ate more of what I am allowed I didn?t got anything sweet and not in the list of allowed food, except the peanuts that I read you have to get them only in the third week, not the first !! I?m so weak!!! I was even afraid of writing this post. Thanks for reading, hope tomorrow I wake up with a better control of myself. |

| O hey! don't beat yourself up about it! Everything is so new for you - it gets much much better. Keep reading through all the useful posts here to get plenty of ideas and just stay committed to hanging in there! We've all been through it - and it does work! Its good to talk about it though eh. Keep up the water - very important I found. |

| Well, peanuts were probably the worst nut choice. Macadamias, pecans and almonds are a better choice, and then only a HANDFUL, not the bag, LOL. But I think we have all been there and done that! I think your tiredness and crankiness were due to your body still going through some withdrawal and perhaps not eating enough (prior to the bag of nuts). One of the things I have learned about this way of eating is to be prepared! Have a bunch of hard boiled eggs ready in the refrigerator. Buy some unsweetened nut butter (peanut, macadamia, almond, etc.) and have a tablespoon or two with your celery. Pre-cook some chicken breasts, too. I also keep some of these flax buns in the refrigerator. I am finding they really help when I want something sweet and chewy: 1/4 cup flax meal 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 packet splenda or a few drops of liquid splenda big dash of cinnamon 1 egg Mix well. Spray a small round dish with Pam. Nuke for 1 minute and you're ready to eat. I have also cut this bun up in pieces and poured some heavy cream over it. Sorta like a bread pudding. Without the cream, the bun is 195 calories, 10.8 carbs less 8.65 fiber = 2.15 net carbs. Except for the peanuts, it sounds like you are on track! Keep thinking positive thoughts. You can do this! 200 grams peanuts = approx. 7 ounces. 7 ounces salted, dry roasted = 42 carbs less 14 fiber = 28 carbs.

| I think you were very resourceful and did well. For many of us, it's an ingrained habit to turn to food when we feel grouchy and out of sorts. You made good choices for dealing with your cravings . You ate a wide variety of legal LC foods, which is probably one of the better ways to deal with such feelings. And, peanuts aren't so bad - they aren't zero carb, but they are reasonablly low carb (4 g. net carbs per ounce). If the nuts were salted, you may find you retain more water for a few days. That's okay, but try to drink some extra water to flush out the salt. You don't need to give up sweets entirely, if you use alternative sweetneres such as Splenda. There is a recipe in the Recipes section for mini-cheese cakes. They are pretty easy to make, and go along ways towards satisfying a desire for sweets. Another good LC dessert is a cream and egg custard - like creme brulee, but without the burnt sugar crust.

| You did great! It takes a lot of strength to walk into the store feeling down and wanting sugar and making it out without giving in. I am sitting here at work with a box of crispy cream donuts someone brought in and its freakin killin me! |

This is a place for support, most of us have had our slip ups, some lasting longer than others. The important thing is not to let one so-so day ruin what you've gone through so far. You're almost past the first week. If you do backslide then you just start again. I think you've learned a good lesson though. Breakfast is VERY important. Some people still don't eat much but I suspect that you would have done better throughout the day had you eaten a good breakfast. There are other things besides eggs. And for snack once you add in fruit after induction I sugest a tofu strawberry smoothie. It tastes much better than it sounds. You can do this! We're here for you.

Or do we hide the cheat day under the carpet and continue Induction as if nothing ever happened? Please assist. |

| GeeGee, One does not go back to day one or one would never get off day one...learn from the mistake and move on...not under the rug with it, but filed away for future reference...in the case of peanuts...I would say move on and let it go...a day with cake and ice cream you might add one or two more days of Induction to get back into ketosis and clear the sugar out of your body then move on into owl on say the 15th or 16th day of the new way of eating...If that were the case I would still be on induction a year and a half later...I don't think I have had more than one perfect week ever...but the overall effect...75 lbs down and from a size 22/24 pants and 3X tops to size 8/10 pants and a size M/L top...can't argue with the success!

| Youa re welcome...even when I refocus and try to get firmly back into ketosis I don't go back to induction very long...only a few days long enough to clear my system-usuallyt akes 5-6 days and then I move back up to around 40 carbs a day and try to stay there basically...of course some days are better than others...but for the most part I do well on 40-50 and I normally range between 50 and 100. with an average around 65. I also during hte school year teach PE to K-4th graders and walk somewhere around 5 miles a day doing that then swim 30 minutes about 5X a week...this summer I am teaching swiming lessons 4X a week for 3 hours and playing softball 2-3X a week as well as fitting some aerobic swimming in now and again...so I am VERY active.
