WOW.. never even heard of it untill now.. so I did some digging and here is what I found:

quote from IslandGirl on lowcarber.org
Here's the scoop! Liquid Splenda will be here shortly ?? right on your grocer's shelf! It will first be available at the Splenda website to order online, then will go to general distribution! (Currently liquid Splenda is available only through several online merchants who import it from Brazil, hence it is considerably more costly.)
The present state of affairs in CANADA is that large quantities only can be sold to commercial operations that use it in products.

SO.. from what I can find, its not available to the public as of yet.

Don't hold your breath on the liquid splenda from the company. One place to get liquid splenda on line, that I can recommend, is sweetzfree.com. This is a VERY concentrated product, and can be diluted with distilled water to make an easier to manage (not so strong) product.

As it comes, one drop = 1.5 tsp of sugar in sweetness. You need to keep this in mind so you don't freak out at the price.

I bought 2- 8 oz. bottles of liquid Splenda from Trish at Lowcarber. They were (with shipping) over $40. BUT, I got them in January and I still have a little left in each bottle (one at work, one at home). I use it all the time, especially in lemonade and green tea....and a couple of drops in my water if it tastes to chlorine-y. Takes the edge off. I would've spent way more than that on powdered Splenda in 6 months and gotten more carbs in the process! Just my 2 cents. (I will order from Sweetzfree next time.)

Ok, is it just me, or am I the only one who is having NO luck with a google search for liquid splenda?? Lots of threads on low carb boards about 'not being able to find' it are coming up, including a couple of dead links.

Maggie: I saw the link you suggested. Thanks! But, I am wondering how they are managing to sell this product without getting derailed by Splenda, who has the patent on sucralose, right? O well, good for us! They say they have no more product available at this time, and to check back next month. I will be back, I would like to get some!!

But as for actual Splenda brand liquid sweetner, it looks like it doesnt exist in this country or Canada for that matter. I hope some day they market it, and I emailed Splenda.com to suggest it. (Put a bug in someones ear in the marketing dept.)

I too recommend sweetzfree. Great service and a great product. Yes, the price sounds atrocious, BUT it lasts forever! Hope they get more in soon so you can try it.

Also, I read somewhere that the patent on Splenda will be expiring soon, SO, I assume that means there will be generic versions that will cost less. Hope so!

I've read about problems with order fulfillment at locarber.com lately. I've ordered from sweetzfree.com and I find my little bottle lasts me the better part of a year. - maybe more. I diluted half of the 2 oz bottle 50/50 with water* and kept half "straight". I haven't even gotten into the "straight" bottle. My diluted bottle hasn't run out yet, even though I boiled it at one point to sterilize it and must have lost some to evaporation. So, despite the big price tag, it's very reasonable on a per use basis.

*I used tap water and left it at room temperature. After a few months, I noticed some pinprick-size grey spots on the inside of the plastic bottle. So, I boiled the remaining liquid (to sterilize it) and got a brand new plastic bottle. After sterilizing, I've stored it in its new bottle in the refrigerator.

I wonder what it would have been like to use distilled?

I am going to have to check into sweetzfree.com

But if you were going to use it for a recipe that calls for liquid splenda how much would you put?

liquid splenda comes in various concentrates. I got some from a source in Austrailia that I heard about on another web site. He sells 2 different concentrations. I bought the "pure" liquid splenda (6 0z) which is a lot stronger than the Sweetfreez liquid splenda. It comes with directions to dilute it to make a more useable product with 2 tsp equaling 1 cup of sugar. I made a batch using 2 oz of concentrate in 14 oz of distilled water and am still working on my first batch. Because of the different concentrations, I specify the amount of sugar equivalent in my recipes so people with liquid splenda in different concentrations can adjust accordingly. If a recipe does not specify the sweetness equivalent, you must just make a calculated guess looking at the overall recipe.

I think using distilled wanter in a sterile bottle is probably a much better way to go. It's certainly the way I will dilute in the future. Also, I'm just going to keep storing it in the refrigerator. It's probably an unneccessary precaution; but it doesn't take up much room, so why not?

If a recipe doesn't say something like "use sweetner to equal one cup of sugar"; and you don't know what concentration is specified, I'd say to sweeten to taste plus a bit more. Especially after baking or nuking, things seem to taste a little less sweet than the batter tasted. But, I think that's true with sugar, too (isn't that why we always liked to lick the bowl?).
