    Default Heading back to Induction

Well I did great my first two weeks. Dropped 14-17lbs. depending on the day. Its now been four weeks and that is it. The under 200lbs is so close, but just wont happen. (and stay there) So come next Monday I am back on induction. Need to go through all the food I just bought first. I kept thinking it was just a stall and would end, but I feel it. I can tell my body is not working like it was in induction. SO BACK I GO. I will figure this darn thing out if its the last thing I do!.. LOL

Don't be too premature, Mourgie. Technically, it isn't a stall unless it goes on for several weeks. Now I'm not saying that your metabolism isn't so damaged that you need to stay at 20 carbs to lose, but I am saying that you don't know that yet.

What is your carb count at the moment, and has it been the same since you left induction?

Are you eating a lot of processed foods? Foods containing sugar alcohols? Or are you allowing your carb intake to creep up to unacceptable levels?

If you are you might want to try cutting out the sugar alcohols and/or tracking your intake before you go back to Induction.

I agree with Maggie, it's not unusual on any diet for people to hit plateaus. Going back to induction may not help and is likely to frustrate you even more.

I am also in a bit of a stall, haven't lost anything in 2 weeks, but I know that one of these days I'll get a visti from the whoosh fairy and drop several pounds. It might take another 3-4 weeks, but it will come as long as I stick with my plan.

    Hope this helps!
    Cheers!

When I started induction, I ate too many bars and drank too many shakes. Used diet sodas, etc. Of course, weight loss was very slow. Then I found this site and cleaned up my eating habits. I stayed at induction level carbs (20-23) for several months. Weight loss was still slow but more or less steady. And by that I mean I would be within a small range for several weeks, then drop a pound, then be in a lower range for another few weeks. It's just my body and I accepted the fact and lived with it!

Because you did drop 14 pounds or so during induction, I would think that certainly means you are NOT metabolically resistant. It may be that the extra foods you added at the start of OWL are holding you back a little. Too much cheese? Too much cream?

Are you still in ketosis? If not, something is kicking you out (duh.) If you are, it could just be your body catching up to your great loss during induction.

If you are eating all the right foods (all natural, heavier on the vegetables and lighter on the cheeses, cream and nuts) it's probably just your body adjusting.

Are you tracking what you eat? Sometimes that can be a real eye-opener.

    Mourgie,
Can you post a few days menus so we can see if there is something that might be the culprit???
How's your water and exercise levels?
Just a few thoughts. Hang in there, you really are doing good

Ok. SO I do have the low carb shake for breakfast then pepperoni for a snack. then salads for lunch and normally a steak or hamburger for dinner followed by a low carb vanilla yogurt. I have had a few bars but have found I really don't like them. I ride my bike almost everyday, so I get the excerise. I have found that I finally did break the 200lbs mark this weekend, so am a little less concerned. The shakes have saved my life and I really don't want to give them up.

Congrats on getting below 200. I was in a stall for a month in January, but it wasn't a real stall since I was still losing some inches and it hadn't gone on long enough. But it was real enough for me so I know how you felt with the slow down. I think the shakes are ok for the most part. Seems like they are working for you. I like them now that I have found a good one. I would guess that your biking has begun to firm you up as well. You know the old, muscle weighs more than fat, now that your muscles are firming your losses may be slower but I bet you'll start really seeing a difference in how things fit.

mourgie-the shakes are less problemmatic than the bars, which cause problems for many, many people. most people can do the shakes without issue. yogurt is a problem for some people, but that's far from universal.

basically, it's going to slow down at this point. your induction losses were lovely! but it doesn't keep going at that rate, darn it. and hopping back into induction is no guarentee that your rate will go back up to induction losses. some people stall in induction and then it goes better when they move to owl...it may work the way you want, or it may not. and everyone's rate of loss differs based on a billion variables...it's not a clearcut process, i'm afraid.

personally, i found that my weight losses often cycle. loss, followed by a week or a few weeks without, followed by a loss, etc. make sure you check your progress other ways -clothing fit, energy levels, ketosis indicators, and inches!-besides the scale, and it's a good idea to limit weighing if it's causing concern. i

t's NOT how fast, it's how consistently you go. everybody wants it gone yesterday, Including me , but the truth is that steady, consistent losses give your body the most time to adjust and in my opinion, is the most likely to "take" as permanent, as you learn what you need to know to stay slim for life.

    good luck!

I would suggest getting rid of the "processed foods"....
shakes, bars, pepperoni...(lots of salt and fat)

eat food....firstly it will keep you satisfied, and secondly, it is good for you...

shakes are fast and easy... but so is prepping food ahead of time and having
it in your fridge to grab.... hard boiled eggs, ham roll ups, cut veggies - celery, cukes, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, etc...., cook some extra meat on the weekend, chicken, (whole, or tenders), extra hamburgers, etc....
make a pot of home made chile, or soup, that you can quickly heat up... soup doesn't have to have noodles or rice in the, use lots of veggies...
make up some tuna fish to grab and go....

so you see, there are lots of grab and go, try cutting out those items...
yogurt tends to stall me also....so be careful on what you add...

after induction, you should have added more veggies, some fruit, and some nuts...
be wary of the shakes and bars... lot of people here have a hard time with them....
    hope this helps....

YOu all are so wise. I just freaked I think, because the proof really is in my clothes. I was just worried cause I didn't feel so good the last few weeks. thought maybe I had messed up somehow. Adding veggies is real hard for I really HATE them. I do lettuce and thats about it. I am trying very hard. I do eat broccoli (sp)but its not the best thing in the world. I think that is one of the reasons I have never really tried to diet before. I would simply starve if I had to eat just veggies. I am trying new veggies all the time, trying new ways of cooking them and have found with enough butter and garlic a few of them aren't so bad. LOL. I do feel better when I eat them so again I try very hard, but its a slow process as well. I feel much better this week and have my energy back and kind of feel back on track so I think I will stay with what I have been doing and see it how goes for another few weeks.

Mourgie, have you tried them with an omelet or perhaps roasting them with your meat? I know, vegetables are an "acquired" taste.... but once you get acclimated to them, well....... you wonder how you ever lived without them! I LOVE VEGAS!
