Smile knOWLedge is power

Hello! I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself! My highest weight was 302 pounds! About five years ago I went on Meridia and lost 135 pounds...fast! When I went off the pills due to the insurance not covering them anymore...well I quickly gained back 100 pounds! It was just terrible! I had given away all my fat clothes and so had to build a new and growing wardrobe...very depressing. Anyhow, on my birthday, 2004, I still weighed in at 232 and was starving all the time. My brother came out for a visit the next month and had told me about low carbing...he lost 30 pounds! So, I decided to begin researching it...even bought a book, and on August 22, 2004 I began induction! I quickly began losing weight...17 pounds the first three weeks...and was never hungry! So, to make a way too long story short, my weight has now dropped to 145 and I am ready to get into OWL as it was intended...otherwise I really don't think I will be about to maintain. I didn't progress into OWL as the book suggested and so don't know what my CCLL (Did I get that right?) is!

Good for you!! I also did the magic pill route, Redux, Meridia, and as soon as I stopped always gained it all back with a bonus so I was thrilled to find not only could I lose weight while eating LC I could easily do it the rest of my life
You are doing wonderful and a real inspiration!!

Welcome MissScruffy!

Wow! Sounds like you are on the right track now!
I think you will find this board to be very useful & supportive & I hope you will continue to read & post often.
The title of this thread caught my eye because I'm always telling newbies that, "Knowledge is power... so READ, READ, READ!" Sometimes I sound like a broken record.
I wish you much success,

You'll find my post on OWL elsewhere. I think the subject of CCLL is over-simplified in the Atkins program description. The whole process simply isn't that linear, and varies greatly from one individual to another.

The goal is not really a number, but a lifestyle. By the time you've spent a year or two in weight loss mode, a year or two in "slow" weight loss mode-- with long plateaus from time to time to test your resolve--you've learned a lot about how to eat for good health. You've CHANGED in more ways than one. And that's the critical factor for sustaining the weight loss you've been working on.

Best wishes as your adventure continues!
