| I was wondering what everyone thinks of this. If you've heard of it that is! I bought a package of it because it has 3 carbs per serving and I was like "WOW"..but now that I've gotten it home, I'm nervous. Has anyone tried this, or have other info that might justify my nervousness? There dont appear to be any hidden carbs. Myabe I'm just overreacting? Cat

| I like it but would rather have my Stonyfield Cream on the top plain yogurt with sliced fresh strawberries or blueberries. It's a little higher carb (5.25 net for 3/4 cup) but tastes better IMHO. Someone else will have to explain the GO diet thinking on why yogurt has less carbs than the label indicates. |

| Is it something cold and sweet you are craving? If so, shakes are another option. If you are really trying to limit your carbohydrates, tofu is an excellent choice in adding bulk to shakes. For example, Mori-Nu Lite Silken Tofu yields only 4 total carbs for the entire block! I use this all the time for my nighttime shakes and love it. |

| I love tofu! But doesn't it add a funky taste to a shake?

| yoguart can be counted as less carbs than on the lable because the process of fermentation will decrease the number of sugars that are left in the by product.... yogurt.... I make my own when I want some and make it with 1/2 and 1/2 and it is richer, tastier than what you buy in the store.... like rob, I will add fruits and splenda to mine... I had to stop making it because it does have more fat than I want right now since I am trying to get back on track.... anyway...thats what I know c

| How do you make your own yogurt? That's pretty cool. Does it take a while to set up?

| There have been posts about how to make your own yogurt without special equipment. It;s a matter of maintaining the temperature within a certain range as well as having yogurt cultures. I bought a yogurt make for $15 a few years back and then saw one for 5$ at a yard sale. so i bought that one too. Salton brand is the most widely available, at least in the U.S. |

| I have made shakes with tofu, strawberries, spelnda and a little bit of heavy cream. They are awesome! I thought the tofu would add a funky taste as well but it didn't. I do eat the dannon carb control and have throughout low carb, but I don't have it that often because it's so expensive. The other day I splurged and bought the dannon lc smoothies and they were good as well and a nice treat.

| I am one of the resident Yogurt makers, here is some instructions on making yogurt, its easy, takes a little time (approx 30 minutes to set up and then 4 hours for it to "cook") You can either use plain yogurt (dannon's is good - make sure it is just yogurt, some have pectin in it and you don't want them) or you can buy yogurt starter from your local health food store (kept in refrig. section ) You first have to heat up the milk you will use to 180 degrees (I have a probe thermometer and it does work best) I heat mine up in the microwave.(usually takes about 15 min on high in microwave) After you heat it up, you then have to cool it down (the heating kills anything that might be in the milk) to 108-112 degrees (i cool my bowl down fast by putting lots of ice in my sink and add water to it and then set my bowl down in that water bath,... takes about 5-10 min at most) add your starter (if using yogurt 2 tbs per quart) then you have to keep it warm 108-112 for 4 hours. I put it in a jar, and wrap a towell around jar and place in my crock pot and use that probe thermometer so I don't have to keep unwrapping. some people will just wrap in towell and leave on counter.... some people will wrap in a heating pad.... many ways (if you have an oven with a pilot light you can put in there...) or you can use those yogurt makers... It will take the whole 4 hours... I usually check about once an hour to see if the temp is right, and right before the 4 hours is up it gets jelled and you will know it is yogurt cover and refrigerate after making, and use within two weeks (yea, you can keep yogurt you made for two weeks without eating it all in one) I usually make two quarts at once using 1 quart of half and half and 1 quart of milk as my base... like I said it makes rich and creamy yogurt you can't buy.... tart, flavorful, etc, very much unlike store bought yogurt. I buy large jars of pickles, pepperocinni peppers, artichoke hearts at costco, and some of those jars are 2 quart size so thats what I make my yogurt in. a note: please make sure you are keeping things from getting contaminated... I boil water and pour it into my jar, and add my mixing/measuring implements to the jar so it all gets steralized... you don't have to be obsessive about it but take a few steps to do this and you won't be disappointed.... good luck and let me know if you try it. I had to put my yogurt making on hold,,.. not losing, and wanted to eliminate anything that wasn't protien and veggies, and fruits....so I let go of the yogurt for now, later on I may try it again. c :jumpgreen

| Sometimes I take a scoop of flaxseed meal and mix it in a container of Blue Bunny Low Carb Yogurt. That's my breakfast for the day. I seem to recall going for the Blue Bunny vs the Dannon due to lower carb, calorie counts and it was sweetened with splenda (oh cheaper too). Now I have an interest ind making my own per the previous recipe. Tom. |

| I just had one of those for lunch today along with a slice of cracker barrel cheddar. They're okay for use here and there. I use it mainly when I have to have something on the run. This time it was a picnic with the kids at the park. I also use this type of thing more often in the summer when I really want something with fruit in it and not so much of the hot meals. |

| I personally find that low carb products ALWAYS stall me or make me gain. I have tried the danon lc smoothies. I found that I had a " low blood sugar" feeling a few hours later. That would be feeling weak and shakey. If it works for you, go for it. I just avoid those things all together. Strawberries and cream cheese work great for me when I'm craving something sweet. "To each their own." |
