Default Newbie? Not really.

Hi! I am not new to Atkin's but new to these boards. I never bothered with web sites for weight loss. I should tell you why I am posting now.

Two years ago I started Atkin's. I was 247 pounds on a 5,8 frame. In one year almost exact I lost 72 pounds and was only 23 pounds away from my goal. Do to life situations, (losing job, almost becoming homeless) I was forced into old eating habits. More out of the cost of eating right. It has been a year and a half and I have gone from 175 to 210. I am desperate and angry that I could let my goal slide so far from me when I was so close!

I am finacially better than I was before and I really want to start over again. I tried a month ago for 4 weeks and was dissappointed to learn I had lost nothing. So this go I am more prepared. I bought a small black book for recording carbs I eat during the day. In this book I added twice a month measuring and once a month weight measurments. At the bottom of each page I put a water recorder, so I remember to drink water. I am taking a multi vitamin without iron, vitamin D because I work nights, C, chronium as picolinate, and L-glutimine. I gave away all the junk in my kitchen and even my diet soda, (I almost cried.) I boxed up all the low-carb bars and non-induction friendly box food. I bought fish (fillets), steak, hamburger, chicken, and soy. I stocked up on green veggies and ranch. Also eggs, and eggbeaters. Turkey bacon and moring star sasauge.

Is there anything I'm forgetting? Is there something I need to do otherwise? I re-read the book, but of coarse I know there are some things I'm messing up. Help me reach my goal of 150! Please, I want to let that thin girl out!

Hi, Devi. Welcome to a great board. You'll find that having a support group like the one here is one of the keys to success. Also--as you've already begun to do--keeping a journal.

Sounds like you're off to a great new start! I can't say what happened to you a month ago, but ditching the low-carb bars is a good idea. Keep in mind that LC is a learning process way more than a weight loss plan, so please try not to focus too much on the immediate goal. With commitment (even if you backslide a bit like most of us), you'll get there!

Visit often.

Welcome! Sounds like you are all stocked up! Some of us have found drinking green tea, as well as our water, to be helpful. The people on here are tremendous for support, encouragement, and are also able to spot trouble spots if you feel like posting a couple days menus! Hope to see you posting often! Much success to you!

Hey Devi,
I did the EXACT same thing, lost most of what I needed to, only to have surgery, lay around for 6 weeks, and eat fast food constantly. what a waste. But I'm back on track, and it sounds like you are too. the book is a great idea, and this board is invaluable.
Best of the best to you! and see ya around the boards!

Devi, welcome Sounds like you are ready to get back on track the right way. You'll love the board. It helps keep you sane...I think....when you aren't sure whats going on or you just need someone to talk to/vent to/comiserate and celebrate.

Let us know how you do!

PS I love the diet rite fruit flavored sodas, they are sweetened with splenda and caffeine free. Now I can't handle the splenda colas, they make me wiggy. But when I can afford it I do get diet rite red raspberry...mmm.

Thank you everyone!!! Oh and I bought some fancy water bottle yesterday. Oh and some caffine free green tea. You know what I am going to truely miss the most is the Monster low-carb drinks I have every morning. I decided to start the diet on Monday. I am going out on Saturday and I figure I will have some drinks, so after that no more drinks! I am so excited.

I was looking at some of the pictures here, the before and afters, I hope I can be one of those too!

I will write often for I am afraid I will need all the help I can get!
