    Default Feeling good RIGHT NOW

This might sound kind of stupid, but it's working for me. I've started wearing make up. For real, not just throwing on the creme to powder foundation in the car like I've done for as long as I can remember. I mean eyeliner, shadow, the works. (ok, not always the lip stuff because it interferes with my water drinking!) I also bought these two new pair of jeans. They are bigger than I'd like them to be, but they are comfortable, and they look decent I think, and there isn't a bunch of fat being squeezed out the top so that I can say I'm still in a smaller size.
My point is that I'm doing other things to feel good about myself because when I feel bad about myself I do a lot more damage with the food. I get to a point where I don't care, it's hopeless, might as well eat some cereal/ice cream/fast food. I'm trying to look better in other ways so that I don't sabotage myself. I don't know if that makes any sense, but it seems to help me. One of the things I'd like to also do is the earring thing. You know, changing earrings to match the outfit. 9 days out of 10, probably more than that, I wear the same jewelry all the time. I just don't make it a priority to accessorize. I want to start doing that.
One more thing is the water. I'm pretty sure it is a proven fact that when you are hydrated you feel better. Your mood is better, your skin is better, you feel more full and eat less (studies have shown that often people eat because they think they are hungry, but they are really thirsty). and some huge percentage of people are chronically dehydrated.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents (or my $1.02)

Heather...I can totally relate to your point. I'm not a big makeup fan having been blessed with pale skin I can go without it most days. But one thing I have discovered is the clothes thing. I have made sure I bought clothes to fit ME as I've dropped sizes...no wearing stuff I don't like...or don't look good in. I have invested in a few peices of jewelry...and have made it a point to put earrings in more often than not. Part of it is the overall feeling of being more 'put together'...and part of it is that I like knowing I look good.

So enjoy yourself...delight in yourself! Others will see it...even if they don't know what they are seeing!

Heather, when I began this WOL a year ago, I promised myself I would take care of myself....... and that, to me, meant being more coordinated in makeup, clothing, etc. Not running out of the house to do errands in sweatpants, etc. Just feeling PROUD of myself for doing what I should have done all along.... take care of myself. It is a sad commentary, but people will even notice you more if you take pride in your appearance. That is just the nature of the beast I suppose. I get far more eye contact from people now that I strieve to look the best I can.... even when overweight that happened. Maybe it was just that I felt MORE confident in myself because I had taken the time to make myself feel better than I would have without the extra 10 minutes with the makeup or throwing a pair of jeans on to go shopping instead of walking out in my sweats. You deserve it tho..... pamper yourself

heather- i don't think it sounds stupid in the least! you've happened upon a very important find: taking care of yourself in every way builds you up, helps you feel better, gives you lots of positive energy that carries you on up and forward. very important and it feels wonderful, too. that's a win-win if i ever saw one!
