| Hey Rafaella! It is best to stay off diet drinks, during induction especially. During OWL, most people I've seen suggest Diet Rite. Because it has no caffeine, no sugar, no aspertame. I really like the tangerine! It's also REALLY hard for me to get in all my water if I am drinking sodas as well. Best of luck to you!

| From the Induction Acceptable Foods List, one of the beverages listed is "Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda)...". Anything you ingest during Induction may be ingested during the OWL phase.

| I'm one of those people who never gave up Diet Coke. Dr. Atkins had a real problem with aspartame and foods made with it, so he would never endorse consumption of a product that contains aspartame. I tried Diet Rite (and Coke Zero), and they were so sweet that I couldn't stand them. In the past I haven't had problems with it affecting me, but it is definately one of those your mileage may vary things. As April pointed out, you can have diet soda with sucralose/Splenda... and if you like Coke Zero or Diet Rite those would work for you

| Check the shelves in your grocery store. There is now a Diet Coke made with Splenda. (I think there is also a Sprite with Splenda) |

| My experience is I do better only drinkng water the first couple weeks to a month. Something in carbonated beverages cause me to retain fluid. Also I was able to discover when reintroducing these drinks I am allergic to the orange coloring in the RC's tangerine, etc. I get an immediate headache. I never would of known that if I hadnt cut the drinks out for a time. I drink RC cola w/splenda now because I want it but the scales dont move the same way even tho my inches are decreasing. Sometimes the temporary fluid retention is worth it to me so I can have my carbonation. I am aware I personally do better on water only but Im willing to take the trade off for now...But not the headaches...i avoid the orange colored drinks.

| Thanks, guys, I have to agree that some diet drinks give you a headache. I had a few diet-cherry cokes and the headache from Aspartame was unbelievable. I got a few plain diet cokes at home ( about 4-5 of them) , just for a worse times...smile. I had only 2 of them during my indction phase. Lost 4.3 pounds for 7 days. No complaints. BUT drinking lots lots of H20. I feel that, overall, the LCD is working for on my body. Will stick to it. |
