Hi there - my only advice is this - watch out for hidden carbs!! I just realized my gum has 2g in each piece and it's still sugarless. I used to chew gum to keep from munching on bad things, and eek - it's not so compatible with a low carb diet, particularly if you've decided to restrict yourself like the induction phase of Atkins call for. But keep your eye on everything - become a label reader. Great job on 4lbs in such a short time!

PS - everyone says it: drinks LOTS of water!! It will actually make you appear thinner without any weight loss because of the good things it does to all the organs in your body - particularly the skin and the way it will "tone" it. Plus, it flushes out all kinds of bad stuff and will keep you feeling full.

Welcome to both of you. One other thing you will hear quite a bit is to actually get the book for whichever LC plan you choose to follow. Don't just follow what you find on the websites. That is not the whole story that is usually inside of the books. The book is also available anytime as an instant resource.
Good show on your first few days!
Tom.

Welcome Kevin and Eponine.

Tom's right. Pick a plan and get the book ... and read it all the way through.

Then come here often for support and tips!

Hope you'll make yourselves at home.

The book - yes, the best investment for low carb success. If you need help choosing which low carb eating plan to follow, there are two good overview books.

The older one is by Laura Richards, "The Secret to Low Carb Success", and a more recent one is by Jonny Bowden, "Living the Low Carb Life". Either one of those books will go a long ways towards helping you sort out which program you are most comfortable with. And, do pick a program that you feel comfortable following, because low carb is not about temporary denial to reach a goal weight. To be successful, this way of eating should become a way of life.

That's great about the 4 lbs! That's a nice boost, eh? After the first couple of weeks, the rate of weight loss may slow - and even stall at times - but, there's nothing wrong with slow weight loss. If you're losing, it's all good.
