Question new question

I am starting induction again and i am thru my first week with an 11 pound lose so i think i have been doing really well so my question is... On the approved food list it doesn't include lc bread or lc tortillas so why does it say on the atkins web site of sample menus ideas that you are? What do i follow I have had lc tortillas this past week so I am wondering if I haven't eaten them would I of lost more weight. Any help would be great thanks...sheryl

Hi Sheryl, congratulations on your weight loss! I just finished my first week of induction as well and lost 10 pounds.

I kind of had the same question as well. If I remember in DANDR (I don't have a copy with me at the moment) it seems that one of the sample menus for induction allows for wraps with lc tortillas, but it does go against the no bread rule. I think the main idea of induction is to break you of the carb and sugar addiction, and for some people even eating low carb bread substitutes only perpetuate the addiction rather than break it.

As I said, I lost 10 pounds and I did have one low carb tortilla, and used the induction hamburger bun recipe in the recipe section twice. I think that since you still had a tremendous success with these products, you should be all right, IMHO. You're obviously doing something right!

Of course, I may be totally off the mark. Maybe some lon-timers can give us some better advice. Hang in there!

Sheryl,
Every person is different, and some people can eat the lc tortillas and bread with no problems; others have an immediate stall.

11 lbs is fantastic! Great going! :great:

As Ed & Nita point out, the lc bread/wraps issue is a YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) issue.

As someone who started out when there weren't many lc items around (that I knew of, anyway) I didn't really try any until I was nearly in maintenance. For me, they're a rare thing, since I had broken most of my old habits after nearly two years.

I would say that, if they are within your carb allowance and they don't stall you, have at it. If you're finding that you are stalling, or that they trigger carb cravings, then they should be the prime suspects.

HTH.
