Question Replacing Keto brand?

Hi! I am just returning to low carb (and this website) after having a baby. When I was on it before there were tons of products available. I loved the Keto brand Oatmeal. Now that it is gone is there anything that has replaced it?

Thanks!
Tammi

Hi Tammi!!! Welcome back and congrats on the new precious package!!!!! Are you breastfeeding????

You have a couple of options. You can make your own hot cereal using Maggie's cereal recipe found in the "COOK" section at the top of the page.

Quaker has a new oatmeal out called "Weight Control" but WARNING: it is pretty high in carbs. It is sweetened with splenda and has a net carb count of 23 per packet. But oatmeal is LOW on the glycemic index, digests slowly and DOES lower cholesterol. I am going to give it a try. I bought Banana Bread Flavor.

If you are breastfeeding, you prolly don't want to be in ketosis while you are doing it. There's no information out there showing that being in ketosis is dangerous to babies, but the medical community prefers nursing mothers to NOT be in ketosis because they don't yet know what ketones could do to a developing baby.

I have made my own "Keto-like" cereal using flaxmeal, protein shake mix (Designer Whey-vanilla), almond flour/meal, wheat germ and a couple of thawed frozen strawberries and splenda. I will mix up about a cup of each of the dry ingredients and keep it sealed in a container in the fridge. Then when I am ready to make "hot cereal" I will measure about a 1/4 cup of the mixture into a bowl and add boiling water (about 1/4 cup or so, depending how thick or thin I want it.) Then I will add a little pat of butter, a couple thawed strawberries or fresh ones and a dollop of half and half or heavy cream. MMMMMMMMM MMMMMM GOOOD!!!!!
