Default newbie again

hi,
I posted in the 100+ forum, but I lost 60lbs doing lc 2 years ago, got pregnant and postpartum and gained back 60 and more. I don't know the #, but am going to face the scale tonoc at work. I am scared to start over. Scared of failing, but scared of not trying. I can't breath, everything hurts, I can't take care of my kids actively and I am only 31 years old. I want my life back. I worry if I can do this forever as I know it is a lifestyle change, I think maybe sometimes I shoudl do weight watchers, but I have failed at that so many times. I appreciate your advice.....

hey shelly! welcome back to lc!

first of all, congratulations on your decision to address your weight. i was scared at first, too. but you have the advantage of knowing this way of eating works for you, which is a big help. and adding to that knowledge is being in the place you seem to be right now:being ready to lose the health and mobility limitations of being overweight and your desire to be fit to fully enjoy your time with your children...well, sounds like you have a lot going for you already!

as far as weight watchers...well, different things work for different people. from what you've said, it wasn't helpful for you, so i'm a little confused why you're wondering if you "should" do that. for me, i was miserable and hungry every time i tried eating low-fat and would quickly give up, so plans designed around that are not a good choice for me.

and as far as i'm concerned, failure means giving up. if you're actively seeking to improve your health and your life, you're not a failure. you're a work in progress, and that's very different. however long it takes, whenever it happens is the right time for it.

my best advice to you: pick a plan, make sure you have a reasonably current copy of the book for said plan, READ the book completely, and follow your chosen plan closely, especially in the beginning. this gives you the highest chance for success. carb-creep is a sneaky little monster, and when you follow the plan, you don't give it much chance to slide into your life when you're not looking.

looking forward to getting to know you, and good luck!

Hey Shelly! Welcome back to LCE. Good luck choosing a plan that will work for YOU. I flirt with the idea of doing WW sometimes (I can lose weight that way), but then I remember how hungry I was and how bad carbs make me feel Whatever you choose, making a decision to do something about your weight NOW is a good things!

Hi, Shelly. So, you have "baby fat" to get rid of. (I think that's the hardest to lose!) You can do it. You know how lc works, you lost before, you can do it again.

Come here often. You'll get a lot of support.
