| Ok, I feel really stupid right now and a little confused. I have lost my print out of induction foods and haven't got my atkins book in yet, so I only have a rough idea of some of the veggies in there. I made chicken and winter squash for dinner. Afterwards, I got a big headache....got to thinking about the squash and wondering if it was on the list. So, I went to fitday and put it in and it said for 1 cup = 7 carbs. Not too bad, but thought I would double check it. Found the nutrients label online and it said 17 carbs per 1 cup!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help!!! Which one is right?? can anyone help me??? |

| If the label on the product you used said 17 (minus fiber) then that's probably what it is. Sounds as if there's something more than squash involved. However, this is not such a goof as to require a start over. IMHO, just make tomorrow a better day of choice.

| bonnie-there will be times, for whatever reason, you end up eating more carbs than you intended. it doesn't mean you're not doing well, or that it's necessarily an issue at all. you said you read the label online-was it for the type you ate? evidently, it was too many carbs to agree with you since you got a headache, but beyond that (and the lesson to carefully read your labels for the food you cook up), it has no meaning besides that you give it. don't sweat it. just keep on going, baby. |

| Thanks all for the info. There wasn't a label on the squash its self, so I had to look it up online. It was a spaghetti squash. Just for future knowledge, is squash allowed on induction? Next time I am unsure of something, I won't eat it lol. Oh my aching head.... If the online label was right, it means I had 31 g of carbs today! Eeeek! So far, my average is 18. (bashes head against keyboard) Ok, I feel better now. Thanks |

| My first two weeks, I would drink a small glass of milk before going to bed. I had no idea that it could even possibly contain carbs. After all, cheese had next to no carbs and milk isn't even food! But one day I was reading the lable and my jaw dropped. That was my object lesson in reading the lable on EVERYTHING. But it wasn't the end of the world either. Quote:

| actually, spagetti squash should be low carb. it's often suggested as a replacement for pasta since it can be cooked up to be like spagetti. (well, it's not my thing, but some people like it that way.) the differing online info can be confusing. it is on the induction food lists, which you can find here: http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...eptable-foods/ so i think you're ok. probably the nutritional info you found was off? or maybe for a canned version with something added, perhaps? i dunno. |

| I think the place I first seen the label posted had some issues or mis labeled it, cuz I found 5 other sites that listed it as only having 7 carbs. I feel a lot better now. Still on track. |

| Here is a link to the USDA Nutrient database. http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ I use this database to check carb counts as it is non-biased and you can select specific quantities. For cooked spaghetti squash, it lists 1 cup as having 10.01 grams of carbohydrate with 2.2 grams of fiber for a net carb count of 7.81 grams per cup. HTH

| Bonnie, spaghetti squash is one of George Stella's staples, and very lc friendly. I like it just plain with butter, no sauces. Also, yellow squash and zucchini are good for induction. Save the acorn and butternut for when you are near maintenance. |

| could'a been worse, I downed some 5 artichokes one night and my stomach wasn't all that happy there after either. I didn't even want to know that carb count on that and I didn't know that they were a no no. The next day I simply picked myself up and bruished myself off. Hang in there
