| I entered my coffee into fitday today, I drink it black. I thought it would be zero but it came back with Total Carbohydrate 2.84g for 3 mugs (8 fl oz). After freaking out for a minute I went to http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ and I got a 0.00 result for carbs. Anyone know what gives? This is just my morning coffee I have been known to have a big decaf with cream in the evening in lieu of desert. Thanks chelsea |

| I've noticed this discrepancy, too, Chelsea. I would note that the total carbs on fitday are almost the same as the "ash" calculated on the USDA site. Since carbs are calculated "by difference" and since fitday doesn't break out ash as the USDA does, that might account for the discrepancy. FWIW, I've always counted 1 gm for each 6 oz cup of coffee, because 1. That's what Atkins said in the edition I used and 2. Bowes & Church (considered pretty much the most authoritative source of food values by nutritionists) lists one 6 oz cup as .7 carbs. HTH

| Ouch, I thought it was a free food. Funny how I never saw that it had carbs but only that it might affect blood sugar. Well I guess I will have to be a little more careful with the coffee. Thanks Maggie |
