| Hi You Guys Here's my story. A month ago I weighed 250 pounds but then began a low cal/low fat diet. Now I weigh in at 242 pounds. I am eating 1200 calories and 20 grams of fat a day but am beginning to get bored not to mention that I'm getting tired of going to bed hungry. I've been thinking about doing the Atkins Diet but out of fear haven't started it as of yet. The reason I'm afraid is because two of my mom's friends have passed away from pancreatic cancer while doing Atkins. A few days ago I decided to do some research here in the net and I came up with this link from the Dr. Koop website. Soooo, since I read all about how processed red meat is not too healthy to eat on a frequent basis, I now believe I am ready to go shopping for this diet just as long as I stock up on plenty of fresh white meat, fish and other things that I love and miss! ![]() I'm really glad to have found this weight loss forum and expect that I'll be back just as often as I can. Good luck to everybody who is on their weight loss journeys! FB http://hollygoheavily.blogspot.com/ |

| Welcome! For myself, I don't worry much about processed meat. I don't wind up eating very much of it anyway. When I do, I enjoy. This WOE is pretty adaptable to anyone who has a protein source they like and a love of vegies. Hope you'll make yourself at home here!

| In regards to red meat......in the book "You", the Owners Manual they state that a steak once a week is good for you and they are two doctors who wrote the book. So once in awhile is fine frannie |

| well, before i started this woe, i had a near certain chances of becoming diabetic, and the health issues associated with being so overweight were very real and very immediate. i know in my heart i've added 20 years or more to my life easily, and improved the quality of my life tremendously. you couldn't pay me to go back. |

| Going to bed hungry is the pits. It really makes you feel deprived. Like Goddess, I too was on the verge of some serious health problems when I started this WOE. I still have a long way to go but my health has already improved ten fold. Welcome and good luck wtih your new way of eating.
